Set up as shown.
Instructions:
Defender passes the ball to an attacker and attackers play 2v1 to goal. Attackers must make at least 1 pass before they can shoot. If defender wins the ball they must pass it to the coach. After a few minutes switch the attacking and defending lines.
Coaching Points:
Open up do not crowd the player with the ball.
Position yourself so you are an open playing option for your teammate with the ball.
Proper technique to pass to your partner.
Proper weight of pass.
Progressions:
Attackers must pass the ball twice (or three times) before shooting.

Teams of 4v4
-Winner stay, looser out 3 min game
- A is worth 2 points
-B is worth 1 point
Instructions:
- Defenders must stay in defensive half while attackers must stay in attacking half
- defenders must pass to attacker, cannot dribble up
- wide gates are worth 2 points
- central pugg goals worth 1 point
Coaching Points:
Decision of when to spin defender v. hold the ball up
Check to the ball
Arm out - feel for defender
Check shoulder - know where player is

Organization:
In pairs stand opposite each other, 10 yards apart as shown, 2 red cones in the middle (gates) 3 yds apart. One player is on the blue cone, their partner is on the yellow cone. Each pair has 1 ball.
Instructions:
Players to try to work together to get as many passes through the gates as possible. First few minutes focus on technique.
Progress to playing against each other in a ladder competition. If the ball touches a gate cone or does not pass through the gate, the pass does not count. Play for 90 sec. Player with most completed passes moves up a level/division. (levels can be: A,B,C; 1,2,3; MLS first team, USLAcademy, RDS etc..)
Coaching Points:
Head up before pass,
step into pass,
non-kicking foot next to ball pointing in direction of pass,
lock ankle, follow through in direction of where want pass to go.
Take a touch when receiving to set yourself up for return pass.
Progressions:
-Use weaker foot
-Narrow the gates to 1yd and use stronger foot
-Use weaker foot on narrow gates
- Increase the distance between players
