Warmup (10 mins)

Organization:

15 x 20 grids

3 yards gates

Groups of 3-4 setup as shown

Each player has a pinnie tucked to the side

Instructions:

1. Defending player goes on the cue of the attacking player.

2. Defender immediately presses the attacking player looking to pull the pinnie away from the attacking player.

3. Attacking player looks to beat the defender to a gate for a point.

4. If the defender pulls out the attacker's pinnie he/she gets a point.

Coaching Points:

1. Go directly at the defender

2. Smaller steps once accelerating into space larger strides

3. Head up to see what gate we must attack in

4. Change in levels: Body shape taller to lower on the feint to provide

Technical (20 mins)

Organization:

15 x 20 grids

Cones placed in the middle as an obstacle

Groups of 3-4 setup as shown

Each player has a ball

Instructions:

1. One player at a time dribbles at the cones and performs the move.

2. After executing the move, they must get their head up and make eye contact with next player in line.

3. Next player goes once player make eye contact.

Coaching Points:

1. Drive at speed using Messi Touches

2. Head up to the assess the space

Shoulder Feint:

> Unbalance defender with body movement (Use of body to sell the fake).

> Final touch with the outside surface of the foot

> Final touch out of feet and at an angle to beat the defender

Inside-Outside:

> Hop on non - kicking foot, to sell to the defender that you are moving in that direction.

> Use of body to sell the move and unbalance the defender (High to low)

> Pull the ball across at a forward angle with the inside of your foot.

> Exit touch with the outside surface of the foot as the player drags the ball across and it begins to round the big toe.

Semi Opposed (20 mins)

Organization:

15 x 20 grids

3 yards gates on the endline

One 3 yd gate in the middle

Groups of 3-4 setup as shown

Each player has a ball

Instructions:

1. Defending player plays into the attacking player.

2. Defender immediately applies passive pressure by standing in the gate in the center of the grid.

3. Attacking player performs move and accelerates into the gate.

Coaching Points:

1. Attacking player head up to assess where the space/ is. If we don't have our head up we will not know where the space to attack.

2. Drive at the defending player to commit them, if we drive directly at them they don't know where we intend on attacking.

Shoulder Feint:

> Unbalance defender with body movement (Use of body to sell the fake).

> Final touch with the outside surface of the foot

> Final touch out of feet and at an angle to beat the defender

Inside-Outside:

> Hop on non - kicking foot, to sell to the defender that you are moving in that direction.

> Use of body to sell the move and unbalance the defender (High to low)

> Pull the ball across at a forward angle with the inside of your foot.

> Exit touch with the outside surface of the foot as the player drags the ball across and it begins to round the big toe.

Progression:

Turn it into a race where the defender must stay in the central gate until attacker performs move.

Fully Opposed 1v1 (20 mins)

Organization:

15 x 20 grids

3 yards gates on the endline

Groups of 3-4 setup as shown

Each player has a ball

Instructions:

1. Defending player passes the ball to the attacking player.

2. Defender immediately presses the attacking player on their first touch.

3. Attacking player looks to score by dribbling through a gate.

4. If defender wins ball they get a point for dribbling it past the opposite end line.

Coaching Points:

1. Attacking player head up to assess where the open gate is. If we don't have our head up we will not know where the space to attack.

2. Drive at the defending player to commit them, if we drive directly at them they don't know where we intend on attacking.

Free Play (20 mins)

Organization:

3v3 / 4v4 Small-sided tournament games

4 teams of 3-4 players each team.

2 fields of 30x40 yards

2 Pugg Goals on opposite endlines.

Instructions:

1. 4 Teams of 3, play 3v3 tournament style format where each team will play one another.

Coaching Points:

1. Review of session's learning outcomes being translated into the game
