3v1 Box (10 mins)

Organization:

-5x5 box

-3v1 in box

-1 ball

-extra balls on outside

Instructions:

-3v1 in box

-10 passes makes 1 point

-player who messes up goes in middle

Coaching Points:

-Movement to support player with the ball

-Open up body to give ourselves 2 options

Phase of Play 1 (20 mins)

Organization:

-3v1 in box

-3v2 outside of box

-1 ball

-1 goalkeeper

-1 big goal (For attackers)

-2 pugg goals (for defenders)

-1 Player to pass balls to 3v1 box

-Extra balls by passer

-1 extra blue player for blue player in box

Instructions:

-Game starts with a pass from the passer (White player) into the 3v1 box

-3v1 box must get 5 passes to Red Team then play out to teammates outside of box (can play to any of the three teammates in Red outside of the box

-Red Players outside the box must try and score on big goal

-If blue player inside 3v1 box wins the ball they try and score in the pugg goals

-If blue player outside 3v1 box wins ball they try to score in the pugg goals

Coaching Points:

-Can our #9 go away from the ball and try and drag the defenders with him to create space for himself and/or outside midfielders

- Can our outside mids anticipate where the pass will come from. Can we get the player it will be passed to to get out wide, while other mid comes more central for possible through ball to split defenders or cross

Scenario

1. ball goes out wide, closest defender comes to wide player to pressure, other defender stays on #9

- Can our #9 run behind, if defender comes with we can play through ball to opposite mid, if defender doesnt come, we can get ball wihle running behind and mids can make runs into box for possible cross., or a 2v1 situation with mid and #9 player.

2. #9 receives ball.

- If no defender comes with, check shoulder and turn. If we can get a shot on goal shoot, if not see if we can commit a defender and go 2v1 with outside player

- If 1 defender comes with and other stays back, can we 1 time flick ball to outside mid, spin off defender to go far post, while other outside mid is making a run aross face of goal to open up far side of the field.

Depending on Defenders, Player with ball has option to go 1v1, get head up to find opposite mid making run across the goal, or find #9 making far post run.

Progressions:

-If its too easy, once the ball gets played out of the box the 1 defender in the box can come out and try and defend making it 3v3.

Phase of Play 2 (20 mins)

Organization:

-Same as privious

Instructions:

-Start same way with 5 passes to get out of 3v1 box.

-Once we get out of 3v1 box, 1 attacker and the 1 defender can come out to play creating a 4v3 sitution.

Coaching Points:

-Can our #9 go away from the ball and try and drag the defenders with him to create space for himself and/or outside midfielders

Scenarios

1. Ball goes out wide to midfielder and closest defender steps to ball.

-#9 can run out wide, if defender comes with, outside midfilder can make run centrally while Center mid coming out of box can make the far post run. Player with ball can either go 1v1, play ball to #9, through ball to opposite mid, or long ball to Central mid making far post run

2. #9 checks to ball to receive it from box

- Depending on where defenders are

- #9 can turn if no defenders and go to goal or create 2v1 situation with outside mids

- #9 can wall pass back to center mid and spin off defender, center mid can play ball to outside mid, while #9 gets wide, and opposite mid makes run across the middle

3. If middle player dribbles in without passing

- #9 can try to drag defender out wide (by corner of 18) to create a lane in the midde for Central mid to carry ball. Central mid can either shoot if no defender presses ball. Depending on defenders we can play to opposite mid if all defender shift to one side of field. Or play little give and go, or wall pass with #9. Can also do an overlap with outside mid while far outside mid/#9 makes run into box.

Progressions:

1. If too easy, have the extra defender stay at half and once the balls outside of box also make a recovering run to make it a 4v4 situation.
