Using games and story line to engage the children in controlling the ball and learning how to turn around obstacles. Try to get them to use the same turns in the scrimmage to turn away from pressure, shield the ball, and maintain possession.

The Submarine Field
The story:
Marlin and Dorry have outran the sharks but have found themselves in the middle of a field of spikey baloons that blow-up when touched. Dorry and Marlin decide to clear out the baloons to make the field safe for other fish to travel. Especially their lost and beloved Nemo.
Same setup as finding nemo
Players dribble in the grid and try to dribble around a cone using the inside turn to defuse the baloon. They can then knock down the cone (turn it upside down). The players objective is to get rid of all the baloons so the area is safe for nemo. Coach can stand the cones back up to keep the game going.
Coaching Points:
-Drop your inside shoulder to help you turn around the cones.
-Take big touches to the next cone if far away, and small touches when dribbling around the cone.
Progression:
- Players can kick their ball into the cone to knock it down. Make large kaboom noise when their ball hits the spiky baloon.

Instructions:
-Players instructed to find Nemo(an object-whistle, wrist band, card, etc- hidden under a cone). Players have to find nemo by dribbling around the cone and performing ball mastery technique with the ball before they can pick up the cone to check for nemo.
Coaching Points:
-messi dribble close to cone; control your turns
-ronaldo dribble to get to next cone quickly

The Jellyfish (10 mins)

Pre-story:
Ask players if they know any fish. You always get interesting answers but they usually guess nemo. Just mention the color orange. Get them excited to play.
Story:
Dorry and Marlin have to find Nemo and have found themselves surrounded by a swarm of cute but dangerous jellyfish. Dorry realizes that they can touch the tops of the jellyfish and not get hurt (dribbling through the middle of gate). If they touch the cones (tentacles) they get stung (players make a sizzling noise if they hit a cone or perform a skill: 6 toe taps). Dorry and Marlin Race to see how many cones/jelly tops they can get touch.
Organization:
- 25x25 area setup as shown
- 8+ players
- 1 ball per player (additonal on outside)
Instructions:
- All players dribble freely inside the playing area wit a ball each
- Players aim to dribble through as many jellyfish (tall cones) as possible
Coaching Points:
- Controlled approach
- Body shape - low centre of gravity
- Awareness of space & surroundings
- Timing & execution of skill move
- Improvisation & creativity
Progressions:
- Give players a set time to pass through gates. Players keep score. Play 3 rounds. Highest wins
- Players perform dribble/skill move around the gate (The skills from warm up)
