In a 30x15 area, split the players into two groups. In one group, each player has a partner and a ball. In the other group, each player has a ball. Players stand across from parrtner on opposite sidelines of grid. Passing back and forth, players with a ball are placed on opposite ends of grid and must dribble to the other side as quickly as possible.
Coaching Points:
- Dribble with head up with good vision.
- Speed dribbling techniques: toe down, dribbling with laces.
- Recognize when to dribble for speed, when to change direction.
- Change direction with inside, outside, or bottom of foot.

Set up twofields each about 15 x 25-30 and separate the kids into four groups (groups should be about 3 kids). Each group/team sets up on one side of the one field in a single file line (off the field). Team A initiates the game bypassing a ball in to team B and the first players from each line play making a1v1 game to small gates (dribble through to score). Either player can score on either gate. Any time a goal is scored, the ball goes out of bounds, or the game lasts longer than 30 seconds the players on the field go off to the outside and new players begin a new game. The transition should be quick. After 10-12 games, make sure you switch so that both teams receive the ball to start. You can even rotate teams so that they play on both fields and get different competition.
Coaching Points:
- Change direction & speed.
- Small vs. large touches
- Small touches inside/outside of the foot.
- Accelerate away from defender.
- Toe down dribbling with laces for speed dribble.

In a 50x30 grid with a 5 yard zone on each side, players are divided into two teams of 5 with one player being a defender that can only move along the endline. Two neutral players are in the wide zone. Teams get points if they play to the neutral player and they dribble over the endline before the defender gets there. Rotate so that all players get a chance to be the wide neutral player.
Progression: Shorten area in which neutral player can reiceve ball to encourage more running with ball and speed.
Coaching points:
- Positive/agressive first touch in direction you want to dribble.
- Dribble for speed, bigger touches with laces and toe down.
