Actvity 1 (15 mins)

Description :

> 4v3+3.

> 4 possession players, 3 defenders, 3 neutral players.

> possession players must look to work with the 3 neutral players to keep possession of the ball from the defenders who will be constntly applying pressure.

> neutral players must have 2 wall players at either side with a target player in middle.

> possession players will be another the outside, directly across from one another.

> defenders can move anywhere inside area.

> objective is for players to getting habit of keeping possession of the ball & using that target player as the key to connecting all player. Yes, all outside players can play to one another but that target player is who will drag defenders about & create space.

> 10 or more passes = 1 point.

> if defenders win the ball back, they will create a 4v1 inside the area against the target neutral player, 5 passes = 1 point.

> rotate players round every 3 minutes.

Progression :

> neutral players now have 1 touch, so everything for them must be a first time pass back into area. Encourage players to be on their toes at all times to react to any pass given to them.

Coaching Points :

> movement off the ball to find gaps & create angles.

> communication for when you want the ball but also what you want teammate to do when they receive ball. ( give & go - man on - turn - time )

> weight of pass into target player, the easier the pass the more chance to connect all players.

> bravery - all players be brave to get the ball ( target player especially )

> trust - if your teammate is adamant for the ball then give it to them!!!

> the defenders must look to build out from their zone against the 3 opposition attackers & work the ball into their 3 midfielders.

> the midfield 3 must try & work together to get the ball forward to the attackers. If they cannot find one another in middle or get ball into attackers - they can start again with the defenders.

> once the attackers receive the ball - they can look to score into any goal in their zone.
