Part 1

Type: Ball Mastery

Team Function: Dribbling, Turns

Zones: All zones

Duration: 10 min

Objectives: Turning in tight areas with traffic

Emphasis: Keeping the ball close, not letting it run in front

Coaching Points: Small touches, Part of foot/ball

Organization: 30x30 yard grid with a 7x7 yard square in the middle with 8 cones. (For younger ages make the grid smaller)

Equipment: Disc cones, Balls

Goals: Being able to dribble and turn with pace amongst pressure

Instructions: Players will partner up with one player starting with the ball and one player starting on the outside of the grid. Player with the ball will dribble around a cone and dribble the ball back to their partner.

Progression: Have partner move to new space after returning to the outside so player in the middle must pick head up and find their partner.

Part 2

Type: Ball Mastery

Part 3

Type: Ball Mastery

Team Function: Escaping pressure

Zones: All zones

Duration:10 min

Objectives: Finding space away from defender

Emphasis: Keep ball close, Head up looking for space

Coaching Points: Body between you and defender, Accelerate into space

Organization:30x30 yard grid range from 2-4 defenders

Equipment: Disc cones, balls, pinnies

Goals: Players gaining the ability to identify space and dribble into it while under pressure

Instructions: Players will dribble freely within the grid while defenders are trying to get their ball out of bounds. If defender gets ball out. Attacker must retrieve it and perform toe taps or foundations before re-entering the square. Switch defenders every two minutes. Defenders will keep track of how many people they take the ball from.

SSG

Type: Ball Mastery

Team Function: Small Sided Game

Zones: All zones

Duration: 25min

Objectives: Transferring ball mastery skils from earlier into the game

Emphasis: Constantly looking for space and teammates

Coaching Points: Keep the ball close, head up

Organization: 30x30 yard grid with 3-4 gates around the grid per team depending on numbers.

Equipment: Disc Cones, Pinnies, Balls

Goals: Being able to dribble and make decisions while under pressure and in a tight area.

Instructions: Teams will play 3v3 inside the grid. Every time you make a pass to a player in a gate you get a point. Players will stay in gates for 3 minutes then we will rotate.

Progression: Everytime you make a pass to someone in a gate, you must swtich with them. Player who received the ball in the gate looks to receive it and dribble into space
