Equipment:
- Same as before
Organization:
- Drill starts just the same as the previous one did with teams forced to stay in grids and BLUE looking for the split on WHITE to find RED
- If/ when a split happens then RED now has the ball and plays 4 v 4 against WHITE in grids 1 and 2.
- Another split (must be a split not a simple pass on the outside) back to BLUE would then force RED back into grid 1 and game would be BLUE against WHITE in grids 2 and 3 again looking for the next split.
- Play for 2 minutes with defending team looking to play to the coach if they win the ball
Key Coaching Points:
- Simple "pressure and cover" to start the game turns into a quick recovery and finding defensive shape when a team gets split.
- Forces players to make quick decisions during the run of play on how to find shape and whether they can "high press" or slow the ball and force a turn over methodicially.

3 Grid Split (15 mins)
Equipment:
-24 x 15 yard box broken down the three equal spaces (less players = smaller spaces)
-12 players in 3 seperate color pinnies
-enough balls to keep play flowing without the need to chase for balls
Organization:
- Blue passes the ball in area looking for a chance to split white and pass to red (don't force)
- Players must stay in their own grid and can't leave, especially defenders
- Play contunues for 2 minutes then switch new group into middle
Key Points:
- Team in middle must "pressure and cover" to prevent split/ penetrating ball.
- Must communicate to ensure only one player steps to ball (even though they must stay in the own grid)
- Must be able to find correct passing angles/ lanes and move not only horizonialy but verticially on the field as correct "cover" is needed
- Work to stay diciplined as a group
