Warm-up: street soccer. As we will be working on Dribbling and turning on this session, add an end zone where the players need to go in with the ball before scoring a goal. A defender can get in as well to avoid the goal.

Time:10-15 min

Coaching points:

- you have space, dribble the ball up

- 1v1 situation? take it! Be brave!

- Change quick your directions to beat the defender

- Quick change of pace might be enough to pass by the defender

Players will be in lines (3 players max) facing a cone: players will dribble the ball towards the cone (defender) and:

- they will slow down near the cone, and suddenly they will quickly change the pace giving a touch to one of the cone's side (changing the pace, also called dynamic advantage);

- players now will dribble the ball with speed and they will change quick their directions to one of the two sides (outside foot, inside foot, sole, whatever the coach wants to call);

- players now will use one of the "special moves" the coach will call: roll over, la croqueta, step over; roll step over, the half moon, or any other move the coach would like to call.

In each of the rounds, player will finish the play trying to score in a small goal (or between two cones; or in a big goal if numbers are not high). Coach will make sure to ask the players to use both feet when they are changing directions/doing skill moves.

Time:3-5 minutes each topic

Total:12-15 min

Coach will split teams in two and they will stay opposite to each other. We will always start with one player attacking and one player defending in a 1v1 situation, as you can see above. After the first play, when the ball goes out, the player that was the defender goes out and get a ball, the player that just attacked become the defender and a new player from the opposite team will get in with the ball to attack (check the arrows).

Its a fast pace game, when every time the ball go out, a new player from the team that was defending, gets in and attack in the opposite goal.

The good thing about this game is: players will have the chance to use all the things we tried before: if the defender is too far away from their net, player can just quick change directions to beat him/her; if the defender sprinted all the way back to protect the goal, the attacker can pretend to go slower, and as he/she get closer to the defender, they can change quick the pace to beat the defender; if the defender is in a good position, in a good body angle to protect the net, the striker can use the special moves.

Time:15-20 min

Numerical advantage game: one team will try to score in the big goal with a numerical advantage (WE ARE MORE THAN THEM).

Coach will put set it accordingly to the numbers he/she has: can be a 4v2,5v3, 6v3, but the offensive team will always have more players than the defensive team (in the beginning probably a +2 or +3 players).
The team will build the play to try to score in the big goal. The only way to score the goal is: dribbling the ball through the line and getting in the finishing zone.

Coach will encourage the players to dribble the ball up if they have space and try to go for 1v1s if they are feeling comfortable.

After couple minutes, coach switch roles.

Defense team, if recovers the ball, try to score in the small goals.

Time:15-22 min
