Possession Game (15 mins)
Organization:
1. Create four or three – 10 x10 yard squares depending on player numbers
2. 4 or 3 teams, 1 per square
3.1 ball per team
4. Spare balls nearby
Instruction:
Each player in a team is given a number 1 to 4 and they pass and move in their square. The Coach calls out a number corresponding to a player who goes to defend the next square. The exercise becomes a 3v1 situation. when the defender wind the ball, they must dribble it off the field or play it out of the square and then go back to their original square and try help keep possession for their team. The team that can possess their ball the longest gets a point and the first team to five points wins the game.

2. Accuracy and weight of pass
3. Using 1st touch to move away from pressure
4. Passing technique (part of foot and part of ball)

Hornets (15 mins)
Hornets
Three teams of 4 players each
Attacking team (yellow) plays 4v1. Resting defenders (red) at center cone. Transition team (black) has players in each empty quadrant.
After 5 passes, the attacking team can play to any transition team player to earn a point. The rest of the transition team joins that quadrant and new defenders enters area after previous defender returns to center.
If defender wins the ball, he/she keeps can pass it to the transition team and then spread themselves out in the other grids.

Phase of Play - Build-Up (20 mins)
Pitch 2 Goals 3 grids. 2 End grids 20M X 25M (Mid grid 10M X 25M with 2 5m channels). Grid size can be made bigger or smaller depending on players ability or Player Numbers.
- 3 teams of 5 + keepers. 2 possession teams , 1 Defending team in mid area.
- Coach serves into one grid, Once players establish good possession they look to transfer into opposite team. Keepers are part of the play at all times.
- 3 players go and press while two players screen central area. Screening players are not allowed into shaded area.
- Possession players score 1 point by playing a successful pass through shaded area.
- Defenders , pressing players try to win the ball back or force play away from wide areas, screening players try to prevent penetrating passes through center.
- Defenders score points : 1 point winning the ball back and making a successful pass back to their screening players. 2 points winning the ball back and scoring.
Progression:
- 2 points if they penetrate through central area. Should a possession team fail to make a successful pass or knock their ball out of play coach serves ball into opposite grid.
- 3 points awarded to defenders for winning the ball back and playing a ball to screen players to then attack 5v5 against that team.
Coaching points:
Decision making retain possession or use good opportunities to transfer.
Body shape to receive in order to play forward.
Weight of pass / Selection of pass.
Distance & Angels to receive or create space.
Transition to defend should ball be lost.

Scrimmage (30 mins)
Organization:

Instructions:
2v2 game. When ball crosses the end-line the defending team drop out and a new team bring a new ball on from behind that goal. Player who scored/missed must touch the goal before rejoining the game again, leaving a 2v1 for the new team on to attempt to exploit.

Passing & Receiving (10 mins)
Organisation:
Please create two diamonds as shown above. Setup the red cones first and add the blue ones if you are doing that progression.
Instructions:
Pass in sequence of the letters and follow your pass after.
Progressions
1. Player receiving the ball would start in the middle and run to the outside cone and receive the ball as they turn and open up to the next pass they are making. (focus on movement and body position. must be able to see the pass and player they are passing to next)
2. Player start in between the two points (blue cone) and run to receive the ball and continue going.
4. Add a net for the player on cone D to receive the ball, dribble and shoot at the net.
