Dribbling exercise - Beat your opponent!
Set up:
Use the length of the penalty area, with cones either side for players stood behind
Number players 1-7 on each team
When the coach/leader calls out a number, the attacker will run around the cone and enter the pitch trying to move to the other end of the pitch. The defender will prevent the attacker from getting to the end.
This can either be with a ball or without a ball (with a bib tucked in)
Progressions:
Attackers to dribble past defender to reach an end zone, earning their team a point.
If the defending team win the ball, they will win a point.
Each team takes it in turns to be the attacking and defending team.
STEP Principles:
S - Space
Adapt the space for the session, make the pitch longer, wider, shorter, vary dependant on success
T - Task
Adapt the task, can the attacker score a goal if they can dribble past the defender?
Can the defender score a goal if they win the ball back?
E - Equipment
Is a ball necessary? Can this game be played based upon evasion skills (beating the defender without a ball)
P - Player
Can we add a 2nd attacker to create an overload? Do we need goalkeepers?
Adapt the session to 2v2, 3v3
