Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 3v2 Transition into 3v2 Counter Movement (Slide 1)

Description:

• 6x3 minutes activity time (45 second rest/change over interval)
• 2 goals 36 yards apart and field 44 yards wide
• Blue GK will start with the ball. He plays a long pass to one of the two orange players (simulate loss of possession)
• The two orange players will pass to the orange player on the top of the penalty area, he will bounce the ball or turn. White will play3v2 against the two blue defenders.
• If a goal is scored or ball goes out of bounds, the coach will play the ball into the two blue players with a blue player joining from the side. Two orange players will stay and the attack will go 3v2 the other direction. 

Duration 20 minutes

Coaching Points: 

• Players must recognize space to play quickly off of target player and attack the goal as they are within shooting distance of goal.
• Counter pressing team (Blue) must read the pass and pressure the player receiving the ball on the run so that they can alter their shot, increase their angle of approach to make it easier for the keeper, or force a pass 
• Win possession on a poor pass and counter to go the other way 
• Give the GK the opportunity to see the shot to make the save and restart the attack the other way
