4-3-3

Add a little bit more width, will help defensively. Give a bit of relief to back 4. When defending Will drop into a 4-5-1. Wingers need to be active, showing for ball short sometimes, getting up and helping number 9 when in possession.

Spencer, Cole, Miguel, Caleb, Ryad- Need to know/understand every position in the back 4. Will help give a little bit of rest to everyone, keep everyone fresh.

Caleb will need to know holding midfielder role to help spell jonathon a little bit.

Three central midfielders will need to understand rotation. If ball is on the left side. Left attacking mid will shift. Right central mid will tuck in. Holding mid will shift as well.

Back 4 Roles:

Centre Backs: Stay compact when defending. Making sure to track runs and communicate other runs. If players are out of position they need to communicate for them to get back into position. When in possession look to be composed to release ball quickly. Should look for midfielders as first option. If not on play wide.

Wide Defenders: Stay more compact when defending, force players to play wide and then shift. Far too spread out and allowing balls to go through middle. Need more balance when ball is on opposite side and be prepared to track runs that centre backs can't see. When in possession Look to advance ball quickly, holding onto the ball allows team to shift and take away options. Try to limit long ball passes unless it is with intent.

Central midfielders: When defending, occupy space in your "zone" outlined by the shaded area on the field. Those spaces can be bigger and will move when we are pressing higher up the field. When in posession, Three central midfielders will need to make sure they are offering support constantly. This will allow us to provide more options for all players and be able to advance the ball around the field in a much faster fashion and with more control.

Wide attacking Players: When defending, they will drop a little bit deeper and we will operate almost as a 4-5-1 formation instead of 4-3-3. When attacking they will be asked to provide some width so we are able to swtich the ball. They will also need to supply support for our central striker. Once we get into the final third. Wide players can make diagonal runs towards the box.

Central Striker: Defensive responsibility will be to take away central short options and force defending team to play into our support so we can intercept. When in possession, Striker will show short sometimes to hold up the ball but will also have freedom to make runs into space depending on defensive shape. Vital aspect is once striker gains possession they look to offload quickly and move into new space. We also need players to support them so they have options to lay ball off.
