Organization:

Game: 3v2 to goal w/ GK.

Grid 36L x 40W. Each group of (5) w/in the game plays FIVE balls and then rotates out. High Intensity activity for approximately 45 seconds. Groups do (5) reps for 25 balls total. GOAL: Score over 50% of balls. SCORING: (1) point for execution of using SPEED to create a shot on goal, (3) points for correct execution and a GOAL. Defending team can win ball and score in mini-goals off to side for (1) point.

Instructions:

1) 1st ball is played into (#9) w/ back to goal. (2) Attacking WHITE players enter grid to make it a 3v2. Defenders are live after (#9) 1st touch. Unlimited touches within game, but decision making is KEY > too many touches slows down game unless using for 1v1 and shot.

2) Attacking team is attempting to score w/ in 6 seconds of 1st ball being played into game. Clock starts with (#9) 1st touch. This encourages (#9) to use 1 touch lay-off to a teammate to start attack.

Coaching Points:

1) (#9) must make good decision b/t using (1) touch for lay-off or (2) touches if needed to receive HARD passes then pass. (#9) should receive 1st pass at an angle and then immediately peel off for next pass / thru-ball or to follow up a rebound of shot from teammate.

2) Players should recognize when to accelerate into space.

3) Speed of Play: players need to make good decisions as to when to take only (1) touch and recognize when they can explode by a defender with an aggressive 1st touch into space to then get a shot on goal.

a) 1v1 situations: explode by defender on dribble for shot.

b) Combination Play: quick 1-2 / wall pass to use speed to get by defenders

c) Flank Play: Accelerating down flank to create situation to cross into box for teammates.

4) Weight of pass will vary depending on rate of speed / angle of receiving player.

Progressions:

1) Two touch maximum.

2) Every pass forward w/ exception of pass back from ENDLINE, next touch MUST be (1) touch finish.

3) Defenders are live and 1st ball into game can be played to ANY attacking player.
