Football/Soccer Session Plan Drill (Colour): Criss Cross

Criss Cross

Organization: 20 x 25 yard space. Players line up opposite each other on the outside of the grid.

Instructions: Players running east to west are group one players running north to south are group 2. When coach yells a group number those players must dribble across the grid as quickly as possible and stop the ball on the line.

Coaching Points:

Dribble with your head up

Decide when to take messi touches and when to use ronaldo touches

Change of speed and direction

Progressions:

Players race against team opposite them and recieve 2 points each time their entire team stop the ball on the line before the other team does.

If you run into an opponent your team looses a point

City Run

Organization: 20 x25 yard area. Four teams. Each players has a ball.

Instructions: Each team starts in their own sqaure (city). They attempt to dribble through the amount of cities designated by the coach. For example if the coach yells 3! all teams must dribble through 3 sqaures and have all players inside the area as quickly as they can. 1 point will be awarded to the team who can perform tasks the quickest.

Coaching Points:

Dribble with your head up

Recognize when to use messi/ ronaldo touches

Change of speed and direction

Organization: 25 x 25 yard area. 4 central cones and 4 starter cones.

Instructions: Players drive at the central cone at an angle using messi touches. Players perfrom a push run by pushing the ball with the outside of thier foot to one side and runing around the opposite side to retrieve the ball before dribbling across the opposite endline.

Coaching Points:

Drive at the cone at an angle

Dribble with your head up

Push the ball with the outside of your foot

Dribble with foot you want to push the ball with

Progressions:

Dribble with left and right feet
