Session Objectives
What? - Improve the team's ability to play out of wide areas
When? - When the #2 or #3 have secured possession
Where? - Def to middle third
Who? - Focus group: #2/3 (in conjunction with #4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
Why? - To create effective possession in wide areas in the build up phase.
Team Tactical Principles
1. Utilize space and triangulate to create passing options
2. Pass or dribble forward when possible or hold the ball
3. Support the attack
4. Create diagonal passing lines
5. Vary the way of running and try to get behind/between the defensive line(s) of the opponent

INTENSITY: Moderate to hard
DIMENSIONS: L30xW40 yds.
DESCRIPTION:
- Playing space split into 4 squares. Players passing and moving in groups of 3.
- Ball must be played into a different square every time.
- Players looking to move into open square to create triangles.
COACHING POINTS:
- Creating passing lanes (movement to support the ball)

INTENSITY: Hard
DIMENSIONS: Each playing space is L40xW25 yds.
DESCRIPTION:
- 4v3 in each box + target player in final zone
- Ball starts from the #4 or #5 playing out to the #2 or #3
- Yellows start behind white line and come press once the #2 or #3 receive the ball
- Objective is for the reds to pass into target player who then sets the ball back to a supporting run into the zone for a successful point
- If yellows win it can score in counter goals
COACHING POINTS:
- Utilize space and triangulate to create passing options
- Pass or dribble forward when possible
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER TASKS:
- #2 / #3 - recognize when / where to take space
- #4 / #5 - support underneath the ball
- #6 / #8 - support centrally when ball is wide to create triangle
- #7 / #11 - read action of #2 / #3 (support wide if they drive in, support in if they drive wide)

DESCRIPTION:
- 8+GK v 8 + 1v1 in final zone
- Ball re-starts with the team stepping in front of blue line and from the #4 or #5 playing out to the #2 or #3
- One yellow can start in first zone and remaining yellows start behind white line and come press once the #2 or #3 receive the ball
- Objective is for the reds to pass into target player who then sets the ball back to a supporting run into the zone for a successful point
- If yellows win it can counter to goal
COACHING POINTS:
- Playing out to go in or in to go out
- Runs to get behind/between the defensive lines
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER TASKS:
- #2 / #3 - recognize when / where to take space
- #4 / #5 - support underneath the ball
- #6 / #8 - support centrally when ball is wide to create triangle
- #7 / #11 - read action of #2 / #3 (support wide if they drive in, support in if they drive wide)

DIMENSIONS:
The course is made up of six pairs of parallel cones, approximately 5-6 yards apart.
DESCRIPTION:
- Two players start at the same time from the first pair of cones, jog along the inside of the cones and do the various exercises on the way. After the last cone, they run back along the outside. On the way back, speed can be increased progressively as players warm up.
