Defending Crosses

Defending Crosses

Session Aim: Improve defenders decision making 7 Body shape when defending crosses from wide areas.

Back three playing up against a single forward, Midfielder will play ball into strikers feet, One defender will go tight and others will tuck in to give balance and cover. Striker will set midfielder who will play a ball out wide for the winger to cross. Defenders will drop and try to defend the cross.

Restriction: In this instant we are imagining that the defensive unit are unable to close down the crosser and will defend the ball into the box.

Progression

Following on from initial clearence players can be positioned in areas to put lofted balls back into the box. Simulating that the clearence has come striaght back in
