Skill training
Play 4 v 4 plus one bouncer from each team on either side. Place two small goals in each corner on the by-line.
The rules are that the only way you can advance the ball forward is to run with the ball.
You can pass the ball backwards and square but not forwards.
The only exception is when you play the bouncer you can play the ball forwards.
The bouncer can also play a forward pass.
Rotate the bouncers so everyone has a turn.
Coaching points
Can you play a 1-2 with the bouncer to open space to run with the ball?
Accelerate quickly when you first receive the ball to break away from the closest defender
Can you run on an angle and cut across and approaching defender?
Can you run in between two defenders?

5 v 4 plus GK. The team of 5 -yellows, attack the big goal. Set up 3 8 x 8 metre squares as per diagram.
The yellow team must have one player run with the ball through the squares before their team can score in the big goal
When the red team of 4 win the ball, they keep possession using the coach and the goalkeeper, and try to make 6 passes to score a goal.
The drill always re-starts with the coach playing back to the yellows.
Rotate players regularly so the all get plenty of time running with the ball and attacking the big goals.
Coaching Points
When you have space in front of you, attack it quickly.
Can you deceive the defender with a feint then go the other way.
Can you get a good first touch out of your feet and into your path to attack the space at speed?
Keep the ball close enough and in your stride so it doesn't run away from you.

Skill Introduction (25 mins)
The drill starts with A running with the ball towards B, when a gets to the blue cone he passes to B.
Once A has released the ball, he runs around the pole and chases B as he runs with the ball towards goal for a shot. The blue cone is placed 12-15 mtrs from recieving player B.
Work from both sides of the pitch.
Passive pressure from the defender for the first 3-4 minutes
Coaching Points
A's pass needs to be cushioned in front of B so he can get a good first touch.
Have a godd first touch out of your feet and into your path to run onto the ball.
Cut across the approaching defenders line so you can't be tackled
Cushion the ball out into your path, then accelerate quickly for the first 2-3 touches
Take an extra step into the ball before you shoot
Progression
100% pressure from the defender
Move the blue cones slightly closer to give the defender more chance
Increase the didtance from the pole to the goal and play a short 1-2 with the coach before running and shooting
