Tech Night #2 will improve our teams ability to counter attack at speed and penetrate open space. Encourage players to attack open spaces at speed (dribble, pass or shoot). Help players notice the point of transition (when possession is lost or gained).

Three Team 2-Square
Terminology
"expand"

- Coach plays ball into either square
- Defensive team sends in 1 player to win the ball back
- Attacking team will look to connect 4 passes and split the defensive team into the opposite box
**If possession is lost. defensive team takes the square. Team who lost possession lines up between squares and is the new defensive team
**Progression: -Add another defender - must complete 5-7 passes before the switch
Coaching Points:
1) Expand to create space
2) Create Passing Lines
3) Speed of play (get the defense off balance, mobility off the ball)
SIZE OF EXERCISE: each square 10 X 20 yds, 7 yd gap between squares

Work:Rest Ratio = 6 X 1 minute games (1 min rest between games)
**Uninterrupted play (coach during the run of play and during rest times)
Coaching Points:
1) Penetrate open space (dribble, pass, shoot)
2) Once ball is won, look to expand quickly
3) Overload dangerous areas by dynamic runs off the ball

Terminology:
"creating space off defenders"

1 - Ball begins at starting line and is played to the right
2 - Player checks off pole and receives ball on the back foot
3 - Player checks off pole and receives ball from (2) diagnally through the square
4 - Receives ball from (3) and repeats drill going opposite way
** Everyone follows their pass
** 2 balls going at once
Coaching Points:
1) Play back foot in order to help teammate open their hips to the play
2) Quick back peddle away from pole will help emulate creating space off defender
3) Three forms of communicate (eye contact, show where you want it, call for ball)
