Organization:

  • 2 fields approx. 15x20yds. 1 goal either end. 3 flat markers inmiddle of field as per diagram.

Instructions:

  • A plays double pass with B and then plays a lead pass for B to run on to. After double pass, B pulls away then looks to run in behind to receive thru pass. B then plays to goal. Rotation: A-B-A. 
  • Progression: A now applies pressure after lead pass and tries to tag B before they shoot.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Passer: Quality of lead pass (B does not break stride). 
  • Forward: Pull away to see the ball. Check left shoulder as ball is coming from behind. 
  • Forward: Quick glance to check goalkeepers positioning. 
  • Forward: Choice of finishing technique: swerve, drive, slot, chip?

Organization:

  • 2 channels approx 15x20yds. 1 goal either end. 1 start gate eitherend.

Instructions:

  • Player A begins practice by running with the ball (unopposed) to attack goal on opposite side. As soon as A trikes the ball, B attacks the other way. Ahas to transition from attacking to defending and try to stop B from scoring at the other end of the field. After attacking, then defending, player returns to their gate with their ball.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Recognize when to attack (quick in transition). 
  • Option 1: Can attacker use speed to get to goal early? 
  • Option 2: If defender is quick to deny penetration, can attacker use moves to create angle to score? 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • Finishing Zone - add if needed. 2nd attacker to play lead pass.
