Warm Up

Organization

- In the half or box players dribble individually -

- Reiterate what dribbling with the ball and running with the ball looks like (dribble - close to the body, under control) (Run - longer strides, ball is pushed out infront of you, used to get away from the defender)

- Players use both feet (1 minute right foot, 1 mintue left foot)

Incorporate Technique - Step over, Drag, Inside/outside foot turn (ask a player to demonstrate and share a skill)

Progression - Pair up, 1 ball between the 2. Player with the ball dribbles about, the other partner jogs within the box, when coaches say GO, the player without the ball looks to move into the space to recieve the ball, and that player now dribbles and continues on until the coach calls GO

Passing/Receiving

Organization

1 Box - 15x15 (adjust to larger (20x20) if needed)

Activity

- 3 players each line

- Ball starts with 1 line, player receviing (b) checks towards the cone (as if he was checking to a defender) and checks off to recieve the ball (As RAM checking to recieve from a CM)

- When player B is receving the ball, player C (STRIKER) should already be checking off of the cone to receive the next ball. (Focus on creating the angle of support (not flat with the passer)

- Once pass is made, follow the pass and join the next line

Coaching Points

- Weight of the pass

- Body position when receiving (body behind the ball, open the hips

- First touch out infront of the feet (NOT STRETCHING ONE FOOT FOR THE BALL)

Screen 3

Passing/Receiving

In groups of 3, two guys on the outside cones with balls at the feet, 1 player working in the middle of the two.

- Middle player looks to check off, and move in on an angel to receive a pass from the outside player(signifies the CB orCM checking to recieve a pass from an outside player (checking that shouldeer in the middle of the field and getting a good angle to support)

--> Look to recieve in two touches, first to control, 2nd to play a pass back

--> Important to coach the angle created when recieving, the first touch oout infront of the feet and weight of the pass back to the player

From there, the player works to the other side repeating

Progresion

Combination play

Have 1 outside player remove a ball

- The player in the middle checks to receive the ball from the outside player

Short Pass in

- Player in the middle passes back out (Short pass out)

- Outside player takes a touch, looks up and plays a long pass to the opposite side player

- Player follow the pass (middle guy outside, the outside player becomes the middle man)

Coaching Points

- Body behind the ball

- angle of support when receiving

- First touch - body behind the ball, on the toes, first touch infront of the feet

- Weight of the pass - part of foot - middle for shorter passes - middle/shoe lace drive for longer pass

Empahsize to players to put into play all aspects of passing and recieving into the game

CONSTRAINT

--> Can we look to complete 4 successful passes before scoring a goal (provide angles/distance of support)

NO coaching points - just encouragement and motivation
