Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Aggressive Pressing Drill 1 and 2 (Start Time: 2021-04-24 11:35:00)

Exercise 1 and 2 pressing as a team. (50 mins)

Setup

• 30x 15 area teams split in two 4v4 or 3v3. just add more 

Practice 

Ball is played from one team to the other and as ball travels the passing team must defend their goals. 

defend the red gate if forcing opponent inside the pitch, defend the blue if forcing the opponent outside the pitch. Both sides going at the same time. If defending team wins the ball they can score through the opposing teams side.

Progression(s)

• 1v1, 2v2 in smaller pitch.
• Remove sides to form one big area. 3v3 4v4. Put in a central striker for each team that stays in throughout.

Coaching Points

• Intensity of run to get first engagement with player in possession. 
• body shape to force in or out. 
• Get within touching distance to influence opponents decision. 
• Triggers to win possession (Opponents poor touch, weak pass, head down, running out of space. 
• Coaching counter pressing if we then lose the ball, be ready to engage immediately and regain possession.
• Quality of communication with team mates.
