A. 4v4 Game Switching Play to Wide Goals
Grid: 25 yards long x 35 yards wide. 4v4 to wide goals.
Scoring: Players score by dribbling the ball through one of the wide gates.
Progression:
- limit touches
- incentive switch by multiplying goal by number of switches
Coaching Points: If it's not on going forward, look to switch it. Are peeling off and getting wide for support player? Are we peeking? Is there movement off the ball? How's our communication?
B. 4 v 4 Game with Switching Play Emphasis
Scoring: Score goal by shooting in goal *Multiply number of switches to goal scored. (example, if a team switched the ball from one channel to another 3 times before scoring, then they would be awarded 3 points for that goal)

3v3 + 2 in 30x20
Game #1: 3v3 + 2 targets on outside. Switch neutrals after each game.
- 3 minute games
- Team scores by a point by successful switching the ball from one target to the other without it being intercepted by other team.
- Targets cannot play target directly.
- Targets only have one touch
Game #2: Target cannot play the player they received from
Game #3: Same rules but now can't play target twice.
Game #4: 1 touch
Coaching Points: How can we speed the play up? (Answer: scan the field to know what to do before receiving the ball, limit your touches, take touch to where you want to go, hips open to field & receive ball across body) What must offensive team do when ball is played into target (game #2)? be an option and support! How can we connect more passes?

Switching Play Game with Divided Pitch & Side Zones
9v9/8v8 game with two wide channels.
Scoring: Teams score one point if score on big goal or they can multiply their points for every switch they do. (example: if they switch the ball 3 times before scoring uninterrupted their goal is worth 3 points.

1. Passing & Receiving: Two Player Combination and Peeling Off (15 mins)
Technical Switching the Point Warm-up
Organization: 6 players in 35 x 20 yard grid
A. In the left grid, we use two balls, one at each end line. Inside players starting positions in the middle and at the same time they both peel off to the side and receive a pass, control it with first touch and play it to the opposite end line with second touch. Players follow their pass
B. In the middle grid, use two balls, one at each end line. The two inside players start in the middle and check to receive pass fro server, bounce the ball back and peel off to open up. Receive it again and now they work on switching the ball on the ground or in the air.
C. Progress to playing 2v1 to target in the grid, as shown in diagram below. It’s actually 1v1 inside the grid plus using the end line player as support to make it 2v1. The end line player cannot enter grid and is used for possession support and for playing through balls. Each inside player defends one end line and attacks the other end line and scores by passing the ball to the end line target. Only inside player can score.
All the passing combination and peeling off movement practiced in the warm up variations above should now come in handy to beat the defender in the grid.
In the diagram above, the attacker combines with his end line player to get behind defender and score by playing to the target at the other end. Now the roles are reversed and the red player defends and the white player is attacking towards the other target. Give the inside players 3-5 seconds to catch their breath and get into new positions to transition going the other way.
