Speed Endurance Run

Speed Endurance Run (All)

- All players to participate

- Players work in pairs

- Starts on the goal line (A) and sprints to edge of 18 yard box and back twice (x2)

- Sprint to the half way line (B) and back twice (x2)

- Sprint to the opposing goal line (C) and back twice (x2)

- After each set is complete the partner will then complete the same sprint. This is where players get there recovery.

- Possibly do the complete endurance run twice

3 v 3 + Endurance Sprint (20 mins)

3 v 3 + Endurance Sprint (Myself)

- 3 v 3 in the middle zone

- Additional players on the cones shown above

- Each 3 v 3 lasts for 40 seconds

- On the whistle the blues and reds from the 3 v 3 sprint around the respective poles and back into position for the next 3 v 3

- Additional players come straight into the 3 v 3 middle zone once it is clear

- Session can be adapted to 2 v 2 or 4 v 4

- Once drill has been completed players complete Diamond Run number 2

Possession game 4 v 4 + 4 in goals (20 mins)

Possession game - 4 v 4 + 4 in goals (Morris & Cocky)

- Area to be 25 x 35 yards

- 4 goals marked out around the square as detailed above

- Each goal to have a player stood in

- Rest of area will play a 4 v 4 possession game

- Teams look to keep possession using the 4 players in the goals

- 5 passes = 1 goal

- Team in the boxes to rotate out every 2-3 minutes

- Tempo must be high and quality of passing good

- Players have a maximum 3 touches

- Once drill has been completed players to complete Diamond Run number 3

Pressing (2v4) 3 team trnsition drill (20 mins)

Pressing (2 v 4) in a 3 team Transition game (Mike)

- In a 20 x 35 yard are we have 2 end zones (20 x 15 yards each) and 1 middle zone (20 x 5 yards) with 4 poles in the positions shown.

- We have 3 teams of 4 players and each team starts in one of the zones.

- The drill starts with one team keeping possession in an end zone (reds above) and 2 defending players (yellow) move from the middle zone to press and try to win the ball or kick the ball out of ball (1 point) If the yellow players are successful then the red and yellow teams switch roles.

- If the red team manage to complete 4-5 passes they must then attempt to play a pass to the other end zone past the poles and the other 2 yellow players in the middle zone (who can attempt to stop the ball) or chip a pass over them.

- If they successfully pass to the team in the opposite end zone (the blue team( they score 1 point and the 2 yellow players in the middle zone move across to press and try to win the ball.

- The other 2 yellow players join the middle zone and replace their teammates trying to win the ball off the blue team.

- Play in 5 minutes blocks

- All players are restricted to a maximum of 3 touches throughout

- Size of group can be adapted from 12

- Now complete Diamond Run number 4

- Each Diamond Run will be complete with a rest period inbetween each run

- 4 Diamond runs to be completed in total

- The set of 4 diamond runs will be completed after one of the ball drills (detailed previously)

Endurance Runs

Sets of Endurance Runs (Mike)

- Each Endurance Run will be complete with a rest period inbetween each run

- 3 Endurances runs are to A and back, B and back and C and back.

- When players reach A,B,C the following should be completed;

A - 20 press ups

B - 20 Sit ups

C - 20 squats

- The set of 3 endurance runs will be completed after one of the ball drills (detailed previously)
