Setup:
12 players; 2 grids 15Lx8W that includes a 5x8 zone marked off by large cones; each server with a ball
Instructions:
Defending player passes ball to attacking player. Attacking player starts behind zone and can enter zone once ball is passed. Defending player must close down and not allow attacker to dribble out of zone. If defending player wins ball, she dribbles over the end line of the zone. If attacking player beats defender, she must dirbble in control over defenders end line. Players rotate.
Key Ponts:
-defender must start to close down as soon as she passes ball
-fast approach, slow arrival
-close down as ball is traveling
-slightly bend run
-knees bent, stay flexible, weight on front foot
-patience if attacker is in control of ball, must win ball on bad touch

Setup:
4v4 in a 30W x 35L grid; 4 goals
Instructions:
Play 4v4 reinforcing 1st defender role. Each player chooses an opponent to attack/defend and must stay with that player. Players must dribble and stop ball through goal to score. Each player must keep their own score. For example, if a defender gets beat and opponent scores a goal, the attacker gets 1 pt. and defender gets 0. If defender wins ball and counters for a goal, defender gets 2 pts and attacker gets 0. Only each player matched up can attack/defend each other. Players may pass ball to each other, but only matchups can defend/attack. Teammates cannot help.
Key Points:
-Immediate pressure on ball from 1st defender
-Patience when defending
-sideways on stance, wieght on front foot
-fast approach, slow arrival
-close down as ball is traveling
-1st defender should communicate as she is pressing ball
