Activity
-1v1/2v2 defending activity. Player A passes ball into Player B who attacks. Defender can close down as the ball is passed. The attacker tries to beat defender to score in mini goal. If the defender wins the ball, they can score in opposie goal.
Progression
-Add the 2 sides together and create 2v2 situation (introduce the covering defender)
Coaching Points
-Speed and angle of approach (CLOSE DOWN - SLOW DOWN)
-Body Position to threaten the ball (SIT DOWN)
-Patience when to win the ball - (STAY DOWN)
-Know where goal is
-Keep eyes on the goal

-in game coaching (questioning, guided discovery)
-limited stoppages - if so - use effective methodology (demo/rehearse/live)
-rotate positions half way through

Organization
-Within a 10x10 grid, set-up a simple area (approx 5 yards).
-8-10 players split into 2 groups
Activity
-Place two cones/markers to form a gate in one corner.
-One defender in the area. Remaining players outside area, on corner opposite the gate.
-One attacker at a time tries to get past the defender and through the gate to score a point.
-If the defender can tag the attacker then they gain a point for themselves.

Starting to think about defensive body shape, speed of approach, etc...
