3v3+2 rondo with gates (20 mins)

Setup:

20x15 grid with gates on ends

2 teams of 3 - 2 players in middle, one on end

Activity:

2 players in middle combine to get ball into target through one of the gates. Target can move side to side on endline to find the best angle/gate.

Blue passing to white target. White passing to blue target.

Once target receives ball, they immediately play into their teammates to attack other direction (transition from defense to attack).

Coaching Points:

+ Travel as ball is traveling (move to create angles as ball is traveling to target)

+ Make use of space (width/depth)

Progressions:

+ Target player dribbles ball into game and one of the other players replaces them as target

Setup:

50x40 field

3 equal teams

Balls in each goal

Activity:

2 teams play 4v4 where one team tries to score and the other tries to win ball to attack other zone/goal.

If Defending team gets ball out of zone, the attacking team stays in that zone to defend.

Coaching Points:

+ Defense - pressure, cover, balance

+ Attackers - Diagonal and overlap runs to unbalance defense

+ Transitions - quickly get wide; Find space (wide and/or forward); Use GK as extra player (5v4)

Setup:

60x50 field split into thirds

2 teams of 7 in a 3-2-1 formation

Activity:

Normal soccer rules, except these restrictions:

+ Defending team must leave one player in attacking 1/3 (#9 for counter attack outlet)

+ Attacking team must completely be in attacking 1/3 to score

Coaching Points:

+ Can you find the #9 right away when winning the ball to relieve pressure?

+ Immediate width and runs forward of the ball after winning it

+ Make the simple pass out of pressure (even if that's sideways or backwards)

+ Attacking team has extra numbers in attacking third, how can that be used to advantage?
