Working on playing out of high pressure on a goal kick restart, where the opposition is playing with either 2 strikers in a 4-4-2 block, or in a 3-4-3 block.
Looking to have the pivot as highly involved as possible to help advance the ball out of Zone A and quickly through Zone B exploiting spaces in the opposition's pressure.
Want to reduce the number of touches by our team so to increase the speed on the movement of the ball.

Activity

Looking to use the pressure from the defense against itself to create opportunities to move the ball out of Zone A and into Zone B
Looking to maintain possession and if possession is lost, get as many of our players behind the ball as quickly as possible
Looking to keep the ball central until space opens up on the wing and then it may be utilized
Looking to create opportunities to score playing centrally and using the opposition pressure against itself
Duration: 30 minutes 3 x 8 minute intervals with 2 minute rest and coaching point presentation
Coaching Points
Can we create a numerical superiority in Zone A and then progress it to Zone B
Can the pivot recognize the opportunity to exploit the pressure and split the pressure in Zone A
How do our players recognize the pressure and adjust their body shape to receive the ball in a favorable position to help our pivot in distribution
Can We play centrally as much as possible which then opens up the wings for advancement of the ball
Can we break lines by using the passing lanes that we have created to break the opponent's pressure
Ball MUST be played quickly in two and three touch intervals
Modification
Defend with three strikers in the last 8 minutes to see how the team adjusts in case RMA changes their tactics to 3-4-3 with their pressure

5 v 5 Directional Rondo (25 mins)
Set Up
40 x 40 area divided into 4 x 10 x 10 areas
2 goals: one at either end
12 x Balls on the sides, but mainly at the goals
Red and Blue bibs
Activity
5 v 5 directional game
The ball is played in by the red team with the Pivots from either team starting in the middle
The "red" pivot looks to receive a pass from the red player starting the play and the red outside players checking down for the ball
When the red pivot receives the ball through the two split defenders he plays the ball to an open player on the wing while the red striker checks down as well towards the goal
The player that receives the ball then looks for a teammate looking to keep the ball as central as possible unless there is space on the side thinking "pass first" "dribble second" with a 3 touch limit condition initially in the first 5 minutes so that players understand the urgency of the movement of the players and the ball
Defenders set up at first with two players on the ball in the attacking end for progression 1 and 2 (5 minutes each)
In progression 3 and 4 players are allowed to defend however the like, but the aim is still to get the pivot to be the first player on the ball and if they are not then they are the second player to receive the ball and progress
1 minute break in between intervals
Coaching Points
How do we use the defending of our opposition against them
Can the pivot split the high defenders and find a teammate quickly
Can we move the ball quickly in one or two touches
Can we keep the ball central and only attack wide when a true open opportunity presents itself
