First P-P-P

Our overall, big picture Tactical Element for u9-u10 is to play from a goal kick or GK possession out of our half into the attacking half, under control. Here we show Build Out shape and basic off ball movements to create space. Since in KY we have a build out line at the half, we have set timing. When the GK plays the ball out to the #4 or #5 then we have a certain amout of time and space with the oncoming opposition. In this case #4 must make a good first touch and carry the ball as far up field as possible. #6 is making a circular run in the Central Channel and #'s 7 and 11 are first checking back and then forward in the Wing Channel. #9 is making a bent run from the Central Channel into the Halfspace Channel vertical of the ball. The decision is forced about where the shaded spot is. Does #4 take on the on coming pressure or does he/she play vertically or diagonally or back to the GK. Or can he/she switch fields with a long diagonal ball out to #11 in the far Wing channel

Core Specific Training Isolated and Eased Conditions
7v2+GK and 6 manni
We will start out in isolated conditions with no opposition, no mannequins.
If we haven't already gotten into the moments of the game we need to talk about how this is in the moment of Attack/In Poss.
We need to talk about the Phases of Attack:
Build Up/Out
Consolidation
Incision
Finish
Then we need to review these areas of the field:
Def Half
Attacking Half
Vertical channels:
Wing
Central Channel ( We will just count the Halfspace Channels in with the Central Channel for now.)
Next we need to go over the positions by number and general tasks. Example #7 and #11 are the Wingers and their job is to play in the Wing Channels and provide our team a presence in the Wing Channels when they don't have the ball.
Next we need to address team shapes:
Starting or Positional Shape (7v7 is 2-3-1)
Defensive Shape
Build Out Shape
(we don't need to really address attacking shape at this point)
Finally we need to discuss the problem that we are solving in this Specific Tactical Exercise which is:
Playing from a goal kick or GK possession into the Attacking Half under control.
Next we walk through the pattern. We add mannequins as we discuss the oncoming players. Kids at this age are not able to imagine a concept without seeing it so we have to demonstrate and have them demonstrate all of it.
We are not looking for technical perfection in this exercise. Just getting the concept. Figuring out the movement and passing pattern.
We will try to get to the point of adding eased demands with a live defender once we get the mannequins down. Not sure we will get past the point of getting across the half line either. But that will come as we do these tactical exercises on P-P-P days. The idea is to get to the point that we are able to work on the technical aspects and all the way through the Attacking Phases by the end of the mesocycle (season for us currently).

First Play Phase
This will be our first P-P-P session.
To start get 2v2 games going with players as they arrive. Build that into two 3v3 games once everyone has gotten to practice. Play 8 min past practice start time. Give break, get water, ask them to think about these questions during the next play period and you will ask again and they can answer.
Can I dribble and shield the ball away from players trying to get the ball? Yes for a little while.
Can the ball see me when my teammate has the ball and I want them to pass it to me? It can't if you are behind opposing players.
When you have the ball, where do the other team's players move toward? They come toward the ball
What does that mean for players on your team that don't have the ball? They have more space
Change teams around a little and play for another 10min. Can stop a few times to ask a related question or repeat one of the questions when appropriate. At end ask the questions again and allow answers. Lead to the correct conclusions.
