Dribbling Warm-Up (10 mins)

Organization:

- 30x25 yard area

- Each player with a ball

Instructions:

- Players dribble around inside designated area

- On coach's command, execute foot skill that coorelates with number given;

1. 10 toe taps

2. 10 boxes

3. 5 sole rolls Left, 5 sole rolls Right

4. 5 Outside, Inside, Outside, Inside

5. 5 Single Scissors with Right, Outside touch with Left, 5 Single Scissors with Left, Outside touch with Right

6. 10 Push Pulls (Push with RIGHT laces forward, pull back with RIght sole, Push with LEFT laces forward, pull back with Left sole)

7. Triangles – tap forward with your right foot, pull back towards you with the sole of your left foot, then tap towards your right foot with the inside of your left. Repeat starting with opposite foot.

- footskills should be done quickly and correctly

Learn what decisions we want to make when we successfully beat defenders.

Individual - unopposed (10 mins)

Organization:

- 3 cones 12-15 yards apart

- each player with ball

Instructions:

- Line A and B start dribbling at the middle cone at the same time.

- Once they get close to the cone they make an attack move then play the ball to the other line and the drill continues.

- Play for 1-2 minutes then change up the attacking move at the cone each round.

#1 - drag back back to start cone

#2 - body fake with outside foot touch away and around cone, dribble to opposite cone (to Right and switch all the Left)

#3 - Sole Role

Coaching Points:

-Keep the ball close

-Make your move convincing

-Make your move quickly

1v1s (20 mins)

Organization:

- lanes created with small goals at each end

Instructions:

- Players play 1v1 in their lanes.

- if you can beat your defender and cross the line you get a point.

- After each round players switch lines.

Coaching Points:

-Dont forget to use the moves from the warm up.

-Make your moves convincing

-Make your moves quick

-Accelerate away from the defender.

-Be creative.

-Keep the ball close

1v1s to Big Goal (20 mins)

Organization:

- same lanes but playing to large goal

Instructions:

This is the same 1v1 game from phase 2 but with goals added. If the player beats their man its 1 point if they beat their man and score its woth 3 points. Have them keep track of their individual scores to compete with each other.

Coaching points:

-Keep the ball close.

-Accelerate away from your defender.

-Be creative going forward.

-Dont delay your shot.

Scrimmage (25 mins)

Organization:

Scrimmage 5v5

Instructions:

** Encourage the players to take on their defender when they get in 1v1 situations. Remind them to make a decision after they have beaten their defender.

Coaching Points:

-Be direct

-Take on the defender with speed

-Be creative going forward.

-Make a decision after you beat your man.

-If you lose the ball going at a defender be the first player to pressure.
