Warm-Up (15 mins)

Set up 2 or 3 groups depending on numbers. Middle flag is 10 yards from the cone, side flags are 3 yards closer and 6 yards apart.

Players make a slightly looped run to the left flag, get arms length away and then jockey back. Then the same to the top flag, and then the right flag. Switch the side you approach the right flag.

1v1 (20 mins)

Blue passes in to Red and immediately gets out quickly to defend. The angle of the run is important, you have to cover the goal early and push the attacker away. Red has to dribble through the gate, Blue has to force them out of the grid / win the ball and dribble over the end line.

Back Yourself (25 mins)

Set up the field as large as necessary for your team's ability level. I would start with 25 x 20 yards. Place a pugg goal at either end.

Rules:

2 Teams of 4 with 5 balls per team. Each player on each team has a turn to attack. Players must choose which format to play: 1v1, 2v1, 3v2 or 4v2. This starts the thinking process. Everyone should be aware of not only their own abilities and those of their teammates and opponents, but the risk/reward for each of the formats.

Successful attacks give the following points:

1v1 - 5 points

2v1 - 2 points

3v2 - 4 points

4v2 - 3 points

The 5th ball is a wildcard, any player/s can attack in any of the formats and the points are worth double.

Phase 2: Defending team earns double points if they win the ball and score.
