Description
3v3+1 with GKs. Set up the field with 2 lanes for the wingers. The first team to score 2 goals wins, every player on the team must touch the ball in order to score a goal. Neutral player must stay as a center midfielder and wingers must stay in their lane. Only 1 defender can enter the lane which the ball is in. If possession is surrendered, team roles are reversed and the same rules apply.
Coaching Points
- Movement off the ball from all players in order to create a good forward pass
- Keeping possession is more important than immediately scoring
- Receive with furthest foot
- Creativity and variation of dribbling
- Perceive GK position before shooting
Progression
- 4v4+1
- Winger must beat a defender with a move in the lane
- GK has to play to a winger to start

Description
In each half of the field we have 2 attackers and 3 defenders. The neutral player can drift between. There is a double-sided goal in the centre, you can score in either side i.e. defenders can score too and the ball is always live from rebounds. If a defender scores, the team gets 1 point. If the team can play the ball wide and then into the striker who scores, then the team gets 3 points.
Coaching Points
- Weight and Quality of passes
- Speed of play and intelligence of passing option
- Work off the ball to create space, even just to pull defenders away
- Utilize neutral player in both phases
- Shoot into the opposite corner from the GK
Progression
- Limit touches
- All players touch ball
- Ball is live after a goal (stay switched on and continue play)

Rondo (10 mins)
Description
We start with a simple 4v1 Rondo to warm up. Encourage players to move along their line in order to create better passing angles. Limit play to 2 or 3 touches depending on ability. Rotate defender every 2 minutes.
Coaching Points
- Movement to create a passing angle
- Receive ball away from pressure
- Strong pass to the correct foot
Progression
You can easily build this into any number of attackers and defenders. a 5 or 6 vs 2 would be the next logical step. In this case, we can focus on splitting the defenders and/or quicker (or first time) passes. A high workrate off the ball is necessary to succeed in this game.
