Organization
- Create 3 lines of cones each with 3 cones in the line 5 yards apart vertically and 8 horizontally
- Split the players equally between the 3 lines
- Start without balls
Activity
- The players will relay race in different ways to and from the cones
- The focus behind the session is turning and so we are trying to get them to turn as many times as possible, followed by acceleration
.
Progression
- Add the ball to the session starting with asking the players to dribble to a cone turn and come back without any specifics on how they turn
- Progress so that you are asking them to turn with a certain part of the foot
- Demonstrate different examples of what turns they could do with the different parts of their feet
The focus here should be on fund relay races but prompting the players to think about how they turn with the ball, what the fastest way of turning is and giving them the freedom to figure it out. Suggestions on how we can do it should be demonstrated, however do not overload the players with information at this point.

Organization
- Create a square using pairs of gates 7-8 yards apart
- In the middle of two gates place a two players, facing each other either side of the line the gates are on.
- Start without a ball
Activity
- The attacking player will start on the outside of the square and the defender will start on the inside of the square
- After an air 'high 5' the attacker will attempt to get through one of the gates either side.
- The defender will attempt to stop the attacker by filling the gate before the attacker gets there. If the defender is already in the gate the attacker cannot run through
- Add a time limit by having the defender count down from 7 when the attacker starts
Progression
- Add a ball to the activity with the attacker attempting to pass their ball through the gate and the defenders attempting to be there to stop the pass.
- Make sure all players get the opportunity to be both the attacker and the defender
This session is building on the turns in the relay races. We are looking for the players to change direction and change speed to create the space tp get through the gates. Adding the ball in we are looking for the players to be able to keep the ball close and change direction with it quickly.

Organization
- Start the players on the goal line at one end of the field
- Place 5 poles, mannequins or tall cones somewhere on the field within side foot passing distance for the majority
- All players have a ball
Activity
- All players attempt to pass their ball to the designated target, the top 3 closest players will get points, 5 for 1st place, 3 for 2nd place and 1 for 3rd place.
- Play to all 5 holes and see which player has the most points at the end and is crowned champion
This session should be a fun way too round off the program. Keep the scores marked down so that you are able to crown a winner at the end of the session.
Warm Up (15 mins)
Organization
- Players start anywhere they want on the field without a ball
- Lay 10 - 15 cones out on the field
Activity
- Players move around the area in any way they want to listening for the coaches call
- The coach will call yellow, white or cone
- The players will race to be the first one on either a yellow (blue in picture) line, white line or cone
- First player to make it wins
Progression
- The coach will give the players a movement they have to do on their way, it could be a hop, a frog jump, a somersault.
Progression
- Introduce the ball so that they have to stop the ball on either white, yellow or cone
- Add a something they must do before they get to the cone, e.g 5 inside touches
This warm up is focused on developing the players quick reactions, listening skills, awareness and coordination. As coaches we can make this lots of fun asking the players to do different movements with and without the ball.
