Out Possession
Blue attacking
Concentraion levels of the blue team out of possesion, back 4 need to be narrow and compact, 2 screen need to be disciplined and protect the central area infront of the back 4, no.10 to work hard to stop the switch of play. middle 3 need to concentrate against the 4v3 overload centrally. full backs need to concentrate in the 1v1 situation.
Area
Width of 18 yard using the length from the goal line to the edge of centre circle, with two shaded areas being the wide spaces up to the touchline where the overloads will form.
Organisation
8v8 including 1 GK with defensive team.
Working down from 11v11
Blues - 1 GK, 4 defenders, 2 holding midfielders and 1 No.10 (4-2-3-1)
Reds - 2 full backs, 4 midfielders, 2 strikers (4-4-2 Diamond)
How
The ball will be played in by the server, Red team will then try to create the overload centrally with the extra man (4v3) looking for switches of play to get the ball out wide creating a 1v1.
Blues will stay narrow and compact and defend the crosses, if the blue team get the ball back they will try play it up the field looking for the No.10 to start the counter attack as quickly by either driving the ball over the line or playing a ball direct into the goals which are strategically placed as this is where the blue wider players would be. It will be important for the blues to undertsand that if the ball is turned over on the wide side then to attack that side as the red full back will be out of position.
Conditions / Challenges
Red player must stay in the wide zones at all time.
Blue fullback can only go into the zone when the ball is played into that area.
Red midfielder always gets ball from the coach - has 2 options, can either drive in or can pass the ball in to play.
Blue team to be quick playing forward in possession
Progression 1 - creating 2v1 in wide zone. When the ball is played into the wide player one midfielder can go and support to create a 2v1 against the fullback.
Coach will then go in to coach the defensive players in how to postion themselves against the overload and how to defend the cross.
If the red team switch from one out player through to the other and score they will get 3pts
