P1 is serving the ball to P2. P2 starts off behind the cone which represents a defender and accelerates in front to receive the ball. P2 then checks back and goes to receive from other side
Coaching Points
- Correct weight of pass
- Call when want the ball
- 2 x different speeds - slow when checking back and quick when want to receive
- Using foot furthest from defender e.g. left foot on left side

Set up a gate with different coloured cones (red and yellow) and that can later identify left and right.
The gap between them should be about two or three yards The player at the front of the blue line passes the ball to the player at the front of the orange line.
To begin with the have the players go to one side (yellow) for a couple of minutes, then have them take the ball to the other side (red). Once the players have the idea of the game to make it more competitive the coach calls out a colour as the ball is moving thru the gate and the player has to react the coaches call.
If you find your players really enjoying this game you could try doing opposite colours.
As a warm up exersize we could have our players doing different dynamic stretches after their pass as they make the run the middle.
