This session is focused on passing technique and players will be encouraged to get the ball forward as quickly as possible. Focus will also be on first touch decisions to advance the ball forward.

5 minute dynamic warmup led by a player. Players are encouraged to add some creativity to their repertoire to make it interactive and fun. Keep groups to 10 players each.

Setup:
Mark out a large circle with cones and a smaller circle in the centre of the larger.
10 to 12 players with 3 to 4 players in the centre circle.
CMs have a ball and perimeter players do not.
Instruction:
CB are perimeter players, who pass the ball to CM in the centre. After receiving the ball, CM dribbles to find another wall player who is free and makes the pass. CM then finds another player for a pass.
Players are given instruction to control first touch with inside then outside of foot. Switch players every 2 minutes.
Provide variations of movements and where a CM can receive i.e. instead smaller circle or outside smaller circle.
Change where the CM must pass from i.e. within centre circle, across centre circle.
Coaching Points:
Quick movement forward checking in to receive ball.
Look over shoulder before turning or receiving and constantly scanning.
1st touch control and 1st touch decision.
Change of speed and direction.

Setup:
Playing area of 20 x 25 with cones to mark off centre area for defenders
9 to 12 players of equal teams if possible
Increase or decrease playing area depending on skill level of players
Instructions:
Teams attempt to pass the ball to the players on the other end with a ball no higher than waist high.
Defending team is allowed 1 player to actively pressure team in possession.
If defending team wins possession, the player in possession has to pass the ball to a team mate, who will immediately play the ball to other team in opposite end. The team that lost possession has to immediately defend.
Progression:
Limit number of touches in each zone.

1st touch control
1st touch decision (make a decision before receiving the ball)
Eye on the ball as it travels
Body position to receive the ball positively

Setup:
- 30 x 20 yard grid with 5 yard deep end zones
- 2 teams of 4 to 5 players each
- 4v4 in centre
Instruction:
- The goal of the attacking team is to play the ball to end zone player to score.
- When attacking team scores, the play begins out of the back for the opposing team.
- Switch end zone players regularly
Progression:
- A longer end zone and teams have to make a pass into the end zone with a player receiving the ball on the run. Treat the end zone line like an offside line.
Coaching Points:
- Eye on ball when passing/striking the ball
- Weight of pass
- Inside of foot passing
- Timing of pass
