Warm Up (10 mins)

Organization:

-25x25 grid

-4 Small 5x5 coned grids in each corner

Instructions:

Phase I: Dynamic Warm Up

-Begin with the players dribbling around the grid. Coach's Command Dribbling Techniques - Left, Right, Both, Inside/Outsides

-If you bump into a player: 10 toe taps

-If you dribble out of the grid: 10 toe taps

Phase II: Cat and Mouse

-Coach Selects Two-Three Players to Be Cats - Cats Have No Ball

-Everyone with a ball are the mice, they are dribbling around and must protect their 'cheese' which is the ball. Play 90 second rounds - players do not want to be the ones without their ball at the end of the session.

The Square Grids are the Safe Zones:

-5 Seconds Max in Safe Zone

-Only One in a Safe Zone at a time

-Cannot re-enter an exited safe zone

Coaching Points:

-Spacial Awareness: Identification of Space, Player, Safe Zones Etc.

-Size of Touches Due To Spacial Recognition

-Shielding/ Dribbling with foot farthest from the defender

Dribbling Triathlon (15 mins)

Organization:

-25x25 grid

-4 Small 5x5 coned grids in each corner

Instructions:

4 Corner areas. Players are divided into 3 Teams of 4 players. One player from each Team are inside each corner area. (Make sure we have less number of players per Team possible). The Triathlon starts with one corner, the aim is to run into the next corner, switching places with teammate who will run to next corner. After introduce the ball, they have to dribble giving ball to their teammate..

Progression:

Have cones spread in front of each corner area , now players have to run and dribble through the BLUE gates formed.

Coaching Points:

-Run on your toes (NO FLAT FOOT)

-Run with the ball using laces

Goal Scoring Challenge (15 mins)

Ogranization:

-30x30 grid

-3 pug nets

-6-9 large cones and plenty of same cones (see diagram for setup)

Instructions:

Same 3 teams are positioned in lines with 1 ball per team. Two cones in front of each line. The aim is to dribble around each cone in front and take a shot on goal behind the restricted line. Retrieve your ball and go back to your line.

Progression:

-Add more ZIG-ZAG cones to dribble / Players act as GK's and rotate after shoot is taken

Coaching Points:

-Body turns with every touch around cones.

-Shooting correction (Inside / Top laces )

SSG (15 mins)

Organization:

-Players placed on to a field 35x45 into 2 teams of 5 or 6.

Instructions:

-If ball goes out of the field players can make the decision to either pass or dribble in. Once the ball has been saved or gone out for a goal kick the defensive team must retreat to the Retreat Line at halfway.

-Allow players to play.

Coaching Points:

-see the ball/see the player

-change of speed/direction

-keep head up

-use all parts of both feet
