DEFENDING WITH THE ATTACKER IN FRONT
SETUP:
- 1v1 or 2v2 practice with players opposite one another.
- Defenders to the side of the goal
- Attackers at the edge of the final third.
OBJECTIVE:
- Defender 1 passes the ball to Attacker 2 who attacks with their partner attempting to score.
- Player 1 defends 1v1 or 2v2 later after passing the ball and prevents their opponent getting shots on goal.
- If either defender retrieve the ball they attack the opposite gate.
INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1) SHUT DOWN - DENY SPACE AND TIME
2) SLOW DOWN - BREAKS ON AT ARMS LENGTH
3) SIDE ON - SURF BOARD TO DEFLECT THE ATTACKER
4) DEFEND - CAN WE WIN THE BALL or PREVENT THE ATTACKER SCORING.

SCENARIO GAMES
- 2-0 up in the cup final vs Cambridge with 5 minutes to go can we keep a clean sheet (reverse roles)
- Attacking team have an overload of +1, can see keep a clean sheet. (reverse roles).
SETUP:
Normal pitch, normal rules inc. corners and throw ins.

ATTACKER IN BEHIND (20 mins)
DEFENDING WITH THE ATTACKER BEHIND/RECOVERY RUNS
SETUP:
- 1v1 inside a 12W x 15L box.
- Goals or gate at either end.
- Defender rolls the ball through the Attackers legs to start the practice.
OBJECTIVE:
- Once the defender has rolled the ball through the attackers legs we are live
- Attacker drives towards the goal.
- Defender makes a recovery run to prevent the attacker scoring.
INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1) SPEED TO RECOVER
2) DELAY THE ATTACK
3) DEFLECT THE ATTACK
4) DEFEND THE ATTACK.
