Organization:
1) Partners toss high balls x 10. Jump off 1 foot and land on 2.
2) GK touches crossbar 5x. Player serves in cross. GK punches clear. 3rd player obstructs GK. Additional players shoots if punch is bad
Instructions:
1) TWO FOOT JUMPS –
Establish rhythm, balance, coordination, as well as having a conditioning component to it, based on the numbers of reps each keeper does. The jumps here are isolated, so we are working on explosive vertical movement.
2) CROSS AND PUNCH
This activity gets the keepers used to a bit of physical contact on an aerial ball, and we focus only on punching the ball clear due to the “traffic”. Working again on good hand-eye coordination, timing, technique, and looking for height and distance on the clearance. We step up the conditioning aspect here by having the keeper return as quickly as possible to the goal line for 3 quick crossbar touches.

Lateral Footwork (10 mins)
Organization:
3 Hurdles + 1 cone on each side. Foot work through hurdles, save, up and around cone.
Regressions/Progressions:
1. LATERAL FOOTWORK AND HANDLING –
Use mini hurdles here to get more of a knee drive on the lateral footwork to prepare for the session ahead.
2. SINGLE LEG LATERAL HOPS AND ONE TOUCH –
We put a little stress on the legs with some single leg hops, before stepping in to the one touch pass. A pattern is established here to get the brains switched on – the one touch is played with the opposite foot to the hop, and the hop starts with the same foot that played the one touch pass.
3. LATERAL HOPS, VOLLEY, THEN HIGH BALL –
Use a two-footed lateral hop and land in a good set position ready for a volley. Then get up for high ball.
