Sequence 1:
Objective: Improve combination play and finishing in the attacking third
Equipment:Soccer Balls, bibs, Cones
Instructions:
• Players organized into three lines as shown, Representing the attacking 3 (7,9 and 11)
• PART 1: Left winger (#11) Drives toward cone (#2) , completes a skill move to the inside and has a shot on goal.
• PART 2: As soon as the #11 shoots the #9 drives toward the #6 mannequin, the #11 then shows underneath for a combination and plays the #9 into space between the center backs, the #9 has an a one or two touch shot on goal. (depending upon skills of player)
• PART 3: As the 11 plays the ball on the combination, the #7 dribbles down the line toward the 3, they beat the 3 to the outside then play a cross into the 7 and 9 who have now made appropiate runs into the box
Coaching Points:
1) Striking of the ball: choose the correct technique based upon the position of the GK
2) Weight and timing of the pass into the 11, can the 9 play with the closest surface to the suporting player (speed up combination), can they play to the back foot of the second attacker, can the ball in between the 4 and 5 be weighted properly
3) Choose the correct technique for the cross based on the runs
4) Timing and location of the runs (dont be in too early) Leave space to attack the ball
Progressions:
Add another combintion in which the number 7 finds the 11 who then slips the ball back outside (see next slide)
Sequence 2:
Wide Players Start on the widest cones, they check wide and open to recive the ball, the first attacker then plays a ball through the gate, into the space for the second attacker to run onto.
