SSG
Red team (coached) 3-4-2
Blue team (managed) 1-3-3-2
Red CB will start play when goal is scored or balls goes out for goal kick at either end. Throw ins as normal. Blues to play out and try to score (or score via long ball) if keeper gains possession.
Will introduce a managed coutdown if blue team are taking to long to attack and try and score in mini goals.
Will give 2 goals to red team if they score from wide areas (in that particular phase of play) to encourage getting the ball wide to create scoring opportunities from wide areas.
Will affect the CF's aswell as the midfielders to encourage combination play to get the ball wide and the movement when the ball is in wide areas. Still look for ball into FB's early to start attack. Looking more at the switching of play now in a live game as opposed to previous function.

Function (20 mins)
Function into SSG
Creating chances from wide areas with WMF, FB's & Strikers
FIRST PHASE - LEFT HAND SIDE OF DIAGRAM
Ball starts with CB into CM, takes 2-3 touches max and passes it out quick to FB.
Oppostion CM comes alive after red CM first touch.
FB plays into WMF again 2-3 touches max.
Opposition FB cant enter wide zone until red WMF has first touch.
First phase will encourage WMF to get early cross in for stiker.
SECOND PHASE - RIGHT HAND SIDE OF DIAGRAM
Same way of getting ball out wide.
This time will allow FB to provide overlap with WMF touch coming inside and then his decsion to cross or play FB in to cross.
Will work one side at a time with only the stikers and blue defenders able to play all the time.
The other players will be inactive when swapping sides.
Will encourage blue team to stop crosses to make it realistic and challenge them to see how many they can stop. If blue team win possession they have to play into red CB who will be acting as a target.
Possible Progressions
Will allow blue team to press as the balls travelling dont have to wait for first touch to see how red teams decision making adapts to that situation after doing a few reps each side.
Will allow ball back to CB who can then choose to start attack on the opposite side (make more game realistic)
Will allow switch of play again from CM if he cannot play ball out wide, which will then start attack down opposite side.
Key Points
Movement wide and stretch opposition as will make it difficult for blue team as they can only press on first touch.
Types of delivery-getting head up to see strikers movement/runs.
Types of movement from strikers, coming short, front/back post, in behind, link up play between WMF and CF to get WMF into attacking position.
Decision making for WMF to cross or combine with FB.
Decision making from FB to know when to support or overlap.
Communication betwwen FB and WMF.
Ball speed and weight/quality of pass/cross
