Area size : 60yd x 40yd

RED Team = 3-3-1
BLUE Team =2-3-2
1 x Coach
RED team to be Coached in understanding how to create overloads - In Possession.
BLUE team to be Managed.
Explanation
Coach feeds the ball into the REDS defensive third with 3 players in the third.
The REDS must use the 'one' player overload to create the opportunity to play the ball forward to the midfield 3.One of the RED defenders is to join the midfield 3 to create an overload in the middlezone.
The REDS then create an overload with the extra player to get the ball to the lone striker.2 midfield players move forward into the attacking third to support the striker to create a one player overload in the final third.
The coach is to emphasisto the players that they need to use 'CREATIVITY'.It is important as the REDS move forward into each section always looking to CREATE opportunities as they progress through the thirds.
The session will end when the REDS take the ball over the touchline into the shaded areas, the ball is then returned to the REDS by the coach in the defensive third. The BLUES can also go through the same principles of 'creating overloads' but the coach will NOT be coaching them. Also the BLUES will have to work out there method of 'creating overloads' with their formation.
Challenges,conditions & Targets.
REDS will score 2 POINTS each time they cross the BLUE team touchline.
BLUES will score 2 POINTS each time they win the ball back.
REDS will score 3 POINTS if they score with 5 passes or less.
BLUES will score 3 points if they cross the RED team touchline.
1.The coach is going to split this into 3 blocks of time.
2.Coach is to get the principles of the session across to the players emphasing the importance of 'CREATIVITY' in the session.
3.Players to understand that 'CREATIVITY' within the session gives the players more freedom to express themselves, try something different etc.
4.Coach to press home to the REDS the principles of creating overloads and getting into the next zone as soon as possible.
5.Coach to to work with the REDS on closing down & pressing the BLUES when out of possession.
In Possession:
- Understand when & how to exploit the numerical advantage to create 2v1 & 3v2 situation.
- Understand when to find the spare player when IP..
- Move the ball quickly & efficiently.
- Make the pitch big & wide when attacking.
- Look for overlaps & underlaps when creating overloads with the extra player.
- Try to commit the opponent with a skill/technique..(this would be a good example of 'CREATIVITY' by an individual.
- Make passes accurate & a good weight ie a good final pass to the striker can result in a goal.
Out of Possession:
- Be aware and recognise the opposition's movement.
- Press quickly & defend the space around you.
- Be aware of the opposition creating overloads and numerical advantage.
