Set Up: Area 20 x 20 with a cone in the middle of the grid.
Instructions: 2 players at each corner, 1 ball starts at any corner,In this diagram ball is with the first player in line A. Player 1 sprints into the middle touches the cone and turns back to receive a pass from player in line A, player 1 receives pass on back foot and plays pass to next player in line 1. Player B repeats the same sequence. Encourage players to play 2 touch. Rotate directions after a few full rotations.
Progression: One touch play
Key Points: Accuracy and weight of pass, head up to play accurate pass, receiving with back foot and playing pass with oppposite foot, timing or runs, angle of support, distance of support.

Set Up: 20 x 20 Grid shaped in a diamond place 2 gates as in the diagram. Players divide themselves into Line 1 and 2, one player at position A and B.
Instructions: Player A starts at the front cone (inside), backs up to provide angle and space in support and receives a pass from the first player in line 1. Player in line 1 plays a pass to "A" back foot and immediately follows the pass by running through the gate with a sharp cut to receive a leading pass from player "A". Demand players are always opening up with the back foot and playing pass with opposite foot. Repeat the sequence.
Progression: In this progression to start the sequence the ball starts with player "B". The first player in line "2" runs out to the cone, then drops off 2 yards to receive the pass, opens up on back foot and plays pass diagonally to player "A" with opposite foot. Player in line 1 must time they're run to do the same, touch the cone drop off, receive pass and play a diagonal switch on the ground. Rotate sides so they're working with both feet.
Progression 2: Identify when to play in 1 touch and 2 touch. Player A&B would have to identify when to play in 1 or 2 touch.
Progression 3: Same as in progression 1, but now your asking players in line 1 & 2 to not open up but take a shielding position when receiving the pass from player "A & B" and then playing a switch. (Turn your back to player A&B)
Key Points: Accuracy and weight of pass, head up to play accurate pass, receiving with back foot and playing pass with oppposite foot, timing or runs, angle of support, distance of support.

Set Up: 50 x 36 Area. 2 Target players at each end (4 total) with 2 v 2 inside the area. 8 players progressing to 10 player.
Instructions: Play starts with a service into one of the two attackers who are playing in the shadow of the 2 defenders (Between Lines). Targe player must identify who of his two options to play to. Defenders are fully active in playing a screen to deny service into either 2 players inside the area. Coach, encourage the defenders to play closer to the Target players on the ball to create the space between the lines. Once the pass is rotated into the other side successfully the players in the middle switch roles from attackers to defenders. Make this a fully active game, players looking to receive must play in the shadow of the defeders. (playing between lines) dance, don't fight or allow the defender to see you/feel you.
Progression: Introduce the Nets with GK's and wingers who must stay outside. Play starts with the goalie who must play into the two closest players. In this progression, when the players in the middle (1&2) receive the pass from "A or B", "C & D" become active defenders who can now close down the pace and play a 4 v 2 as the wingers join the attack. In the attack they have 5 seconds to score. Players must be using both feet and receiving pass on the back foot as taught in previous exercises. Players "A & B" or "C & D" can play into the wingers if the option isn't available through the middle.
Progression: Add 2 more players into the middle third of the field, 1 player for each team to make it 3v3 in midfield 1/3.
Progression: 8 v 8 with field split into 3. Condition within each zone, Defending 1/3, three touches for the defending team. Midfield can't progress forward unless they turn or play back so 2 touch condition. As youy've progressed into this stage make sure your field size is appropriate. Put 1 team in a 3-3-1 formation and the other in a 2-3-2 formation. Players can switch zones so striker can drop into midfield third to overload.

Technical Habit 1 P&R
Set Up: Diamond shape cones in the middle middle set up about 5 yrds apart. 4 lines with two players at each line at 10 yrd distance.
Instructions: Player in Line A starts with the ball at the tip of the diamond, Player in line B runs out to receive a pass on back foot and plays pass with opposite foot. In diagram that would be receive with right play pass with left. As B has received player in line C makes his/her run into the middle to continue the sequence. Repeat this about 5 times then rotate direction.
Progression 1: Have the player arrive to the cone and take 2 steps back to receive pass, timing of run, must leave earlier then in the previous circut. Ensure you do both directions.
Progression 2: One touch pass with back foot, speed up the exercise, we're asking the player to open up their bodies, the rotate with left foot.
Progression 3: Juggling ball in the air, have the players only use 2 touches, receive with your right, play pass with left, then rotate
Progression 4: One touch technique
Key Points: Accuracy and weight of pass, head up to play accurate pass, receiving with back foot and playing pass with oppposite foot, timing or runs, angle of support, distance of support.
