Tactical
gain a better understanding of why we play into wide areas and understand triggers to 'stretch' the pitch for diagonal balls to be played and constant adjustment of angles in comparrison to CB's so they can offer more passing options
Technical
Physical
sharp movements for getting in behind opposition lines to receive the ball and adjusting their angles
Technical

a high levelk of focus is required to spot triggers for movements in behind or to pull wide to receive the ball from goal kicks and diaganol passes from CB's

working well with both CB's and CM's to create space to receive the ball into wide areas.constant detailed communication

Screen 1 (30 mins)

Playing out into wide areas

first pass from the GK is into a full back

full back controls the ball then dribbles around the cone at the half way line, then passes the ball to the waiting CB.

Both CB's start central at the orange cone . when the keeper signals by raising a hand, BOTH CB's quickly drop too the red spot marker (normal playing out position) as a decoy to drag opposition away from the midfield areas (manakins) allowing the GK to 'PING' the ball into FB's

once the ball has been controlled by the wide player, CB's mus begin to jog up from their 'Playing out' position, still wide but level to their starting cone where they will receive the bal from the full back and pass across to the opposite CB who wouldve done the same movements off the ball.

when the CB on the left receives the ball they then turn out and play the ball into the feet of the waiting full back who also would have completed an off ball movement cued by the pass from the right sided CB. the FB plays a 1 touch pass back to the CB then peels off and sprints back to the half way line to take away any pressing players.

The 1 touch pass back to the CB on the left is a trigger for the FB on the right to now strech the pitch with a sprint back to the half way line which shold also deter any attempts to press or advancemnet of the opposition on their side of the pitch.

The CB in posession now has the choice of playing a diagonal pass to the right sided FB or an open CM however for the purpose of the drill the CB will pass the ball back across to the right sided CB who then passes back to the keeper. drill resets

focus on the timing of the CB decoy runsa and the reaction on the FB's to the triggers to make their off ball runs

Conditioned Game

Wide players are neutral and are restricted to 3 touches while in the wide channel.

They are only locked into the wide channel during goal kicks. The wide channels can NOT be used during open play and other players can not enter the wide areas during goal kicks.

All goal kicks must be played into a wide player and the the ball must be set back in to a CB or CM, play can then build from there. Natural overloads are created in zones due to formations.this allows more reps to be completed
