Technical Relays (15 mins)

Relay Races (using SAQ - ladders / hurdles / hoops)

1 player at a time will work through the cones and run to the end point and collect a pinnie and then take it back to their team (no more than 3 per team)

Add hurdles / hops / backwards running etc

1st round without ball

Progressions

Add a ball and have dribbling in ad out of cones / straight sprint

Add variety of different tasks (ball in and out of cones / straight dribble etc)

The team who collects the most pinnies in 90 secs wins.

Coaching points:

- Head Up

- Use of variety of surfaces

- Keep ball close (use of small touches)

1 v 1 to receive with back to goal

Player plays ball into attacking player who tries to turn and score in the goal. If they win the ball, defender dribbles across endline for point.

Coaching points:

- Use of body to protect ball

- Can you turn with 1st touch?

- Surface to receive

- Positive 1st touch

Finishing Station (15 mins)

Finishing Station (emphasis on strike for power /instep/)

1. Players dribble to cone and use a skill past the cone and then shoot at the goal. Player then goes in goal and then gk goes to the back of the line...

2. Player performs give and go and then shoots at goal.

3. Player receives the ball from start point and dunnies the ball and then turns and shoots at goal

Coaching point:

- Technique of shot

Ankle locked

Toe down / heel up

Non-kicking foot placed next to ball pointing at target

Follow through for power

Approach at angle

- Aim for corners

3 team pass and move (15 mins)

3 teams in grid.

Initially, players start with a ball each performing ball mastery in the grid. Add competition if desired. (Players think about driving through gaps with the ball) Add dynamic stretches at the initial part of warm up.

Progression 1: Pass and move in teams (looking for lines / gaps to play through)

Progression 2: 2 teams pass and move, other team have ball each trying to dribble into oppoition's ball to get a point...

Coaching points:

- Quality of pass

- Movement after pass to open space / passing lanes

- Purposeful 1st touch

- Make field as big as possible
