Possession Game (20 mins)

Organization:

- 8 - 10 Players

Full quarter of field (approx. 40x30)

In the centre of the pitch set up 2 goals, back-to- back, facing opposite ends of the pitch. Surrounding the goals mark out a circle 3 yards/metres from the goals. This is a safe zone – only the GK is allowed in here. GK will operate in both goals throughout the practice. 1 ball in play.

In the rest of the area create a 5v2/5v3/6v2/6v3 (depending on number of players).

Suggested aims for the practice are:

-The team of 6/7 has to complete 3 passes between each other before they can score in either goal.

-The team of 3/4 has to complete 1 pass before they can score, again, in either goal.

-The first team to score 3 goals wins the game or set amount of time. Switch roles frequently

POSSESION GAME

SPILT TEAMS DEPENDANT ON NUMBERS

OUTSIDE THIRDS TEAM TO PASS BETWEEN THE MIDDLE THIRD WHO ARE DEFENDING PLAYERS THEY HAVE TO STOP THE BALL FROM REACHING THE END THIRDS. OBJECT OF GAME IS TO KEEP POSSESSION AND TO GET IT TO THE OTHER SIDE 5 TIMES WITHOUT INTERCEPTION.

PROGRESSION 1 - PLAYERS CAN ONLY HAVE 3 TOUCHES 

RECIEVE-SET-PASS

PROGRESSION 2 - PLAYER HAS TO PASS BACK TO OTHER THIRD WITH FIRST TIME PASS 

ROTATE PLAYERS 

If players in middle get the ball they have to try to complete 10 passes to win the game. Only 1 player from the 2 end zones can go in to try to intercept. if the ball leaves the middle zone it restarts

Set Up

3 zones with 2 end zone players and 2 goals placed on the side of the pitch can be placed anywhere

Object of game is for Red team to get ball from one side to the other and back again without losing possession, each time they manage it they get 1 point.

If Yellows can get ball they can score they get 1 point
