2 Players 1 ball.
Players will perform moves in a 360 degree setting and must be listening because when the coach says "find your partner" they will need to pass to their partner on the outside who then comes inside and performs various footskills while inside the grid
Players on the outside should move to different places on the outside when their partner in the middle is performing skill moves to force the player with the ball to constantly scanning and looking for option while dribbling.
Coaching Points:
•What part of your foot should you use?
- Proper receiving technique: "check" mark, large surface touches the ball to receive and strike
•Is it better to stand still or be moving when you receive the ball? Moving. Good footwork to get in line with pass
•Purposeful first touch, we're not just stopping the ball. Away from pressure or in the direction we want to go.
•What are we preparing for?
- Dribble or Pass?
•Where can you move to get open?
To a space where there is a clear path between you and the ball
•What does it mean to be open?
No defenders between you and the ball

In a small field put gates at each end. Split the kids into two teams (or three even groups) and have each team on opposite ends of the field. The game is initiated by one team passing the ball into the second team. The team receiving the ball will send two players and the defending team will only send one player. At this point the three kids on the field will play 2v1. Be sure to switch sides so that both teams get a chance to attack and defend.
Coaching Points for attacker:
•How can you eliminate the defender?
•Is this a good time to use a give-and-go/overlap?
•What if the defender cheats too much to cut off the pass? dribble to get past defender
- Where can you go to be open for your teammate? Away from defender at a good angle to receive ball
Coaching Points for Defender:
- Close down quickly
- Curve your run and close down defender in a way to make the play predictable, try to make it a 1v1 situation as much as possible
-

Set up: Use a 30*25 grid. Large goal on one endline (adjust and use cone goal if necessary). On the opposite endline place two counter goals. Play 3v2 with the team of 3 attacking the big/single goal.
The 3 players try to create a scoring chance and score as quickly as possible. Rotate players after each game or after each minute (make sure there is a good work to rest ratio)
Take advantage of having an extra man in the attack and look to move the ball until we can get forward.
Progression: If the defenders are having a hard time, we can add a
defender and play 3v3.
Regression: If the attackers are not having success, we can reduce the numbers and play 2v1 to goal.
Make sure the players are attacking one side and defending one
side so it is gamelike.
Coaching Points:
- Player with ball should get head up to assess location of teammates and defenders
- Protect the ball when possible. Encourage the attackers to be patient
- Encourage at least one attacker to provide depth, stretching the field vertically, even if that means receiving the ball with your back to goal.
- Must help players understand where to be in order to best support teammate with ball
- Utilize space when attacking

Set up: Teams play 4v4/5v5 using a 40*25 area
Coaching Points:
- Head up (playing with good vision)
- Spatial awareness
- Movement off the ball
Ask players:
How can you improve?
How can you find an opening?
Is there anything you can do without the ball to help create an opening?

Facilitate the game and help with positions, positioning, and game
format. Facilitate a basic scrimmage with a goalkeeper and six
field players. Allow the kids to “PLAY” but give guidance when
necessary. Use a “coaching in the game” approach to emphasize
the topics from todays training. Be sure to use the labeled names
for the positions!
