Warm up (15 mins)

Set up:

-Grid 20m x 20m with a 7m x 7m centre square.

-4 disks & 4 markers

A) Jogging in a line.

-Dynamic stretching variations. (3 mins)

-Challenge the players to be creative, lunges, Carioca/grapevine/twists, leg lifts, groins, side to side, leg slaps, heel taps.

B) With a ball each, to the disc and back. (3 mins)

-Tight turns around the pole.

-Left/right outside foot turns.

-Variation be creative dummy, step over, rollover, Ronaldo turn etc between pole and marker both ways.

- Dribble to the disc, turn (freestyle) and pass to the player waiting.

- Dribble to the disc, turn (freestyle) and bounce pass before next plays moves.

C)Dribble to the disk, pass to next player then sprint to the next line in a clockwise direction (3 mins)

-Variation bounce pass then move.

-Variation dribble around the disc but this time pass the ball to the next line and return to starting position.

D) First player to the centre square and head up moving around the centre grid, on the whistle make a pass to you next player in line. Sprint back. (3 mins)

-Variation 2 players in, same pattern. 1 group stays in and

Skill Intro (15 mins)

Core Skill:First Touch.

Specific Aspect: I aim to improve the players ability to receiving the ball on the move.

Key Principal: Individual Skill.

Player Tasks:

-Scan before you receive, know which way you want to take the ball.

-Try not to stop the ball dead, to avoid being closed down.

-Push the ball in the direction that you want to go.

-If its tight, put yourself between the opposition and the ball.

-Avoid taking unnecessary touches.

-Try to keep the motion of the ball moving and avoid slowing the movement down.

-Release the ball early to your team mate before you get closed down.

Organisation:

- Grid 10 x 10m

- Minimum 7 per grid.

- 4 markers

Explanation:

-Ball starts with outside player.

-Pass is made to team mate in the middle recieving the ball on the move.

-All 3 players in the middle must touch the ball before playing outside

-Last player in the middle has the option to play a pass to a team on the outside.

-The outside players antcipates the pass, recievies the ball on the move taking the place in the middle of the grid.

-Minimum 2 touches.

Step up/down:

-Increase/decrease the grid size based on success achieved.

-Players in the middle can not stand still, must be moving and looking to recieve the ball facing forward on the move.

-Reduce touches. (1 touch football)

Progression:

-Add in defender to create passive pressure

-Increase the resistance, defender to get the ball and stop it on the outside of the grid =1 point.

Skill Training (15 mins)

Organisation:

-Grid to look like diagram

-Grids side 15m x 15m

Explanation:

-4 v 2 situation in a 15m x 15m box.

-Play starts with a BLUE player.

-The players must either beat the defender or pass to his team mate.

-Create 2v1 in each grid.

-Only 1 defender in the grid at any one time.

Player Tasks:

-Run with the ball towards the defender to engage him, create the space for a team mate to expliot.

- If defender tracks your team mate, continue the run towards goals.

-If the defender commits to you & come in to tackle or jockey, play the pass either to your team mate or in behind (into the space).

-Continue your run or support after passing. (SECOND ROLE - SUPPORT OPTION)

-Communicate with team mate.

-Use change of direction (COD) and change of pace (COP).

Coaching Cue's:

BPO

-when we don't have can we work together to get it back as quick as possible.

BP

-Don't let the ball stop.

-Look to support

-Option left/right of the ball, 3rd option either in between defenders or beyond.

ST - Progression (10 mins)

Progression 1:

-Each grid now 1v1.

-2 x support players who move between grids, only 1 support player at any one time.

Skill Game (20 mins)

Organisation:

-Grid 30m wide x 40m long-8 x markers either long side-4v4, 5v5, 6v6 or depending numbers add in Joker to overload in BP

Rules:

-Ball can't be played forward-To score 1 point, ball has to stopped on the line OR knock the ball off the marker.
