Tom & Jerry (15 mins)

Organization:

Group up players into partners

Blue players need a soccer ball

Instructions:

White Player is Jerry, Blue player is Tom

On coach's command, Tom must chase Jerry around the field, trying to keep up with him.

After certain period of time, Coach yells Stop

Each Tom must then try to pass their ball between their partner's legs for a point

Switch roles and play again

Coaching Points:

Head and Eyes up to follow where Jerry is going

Close control with the ball so you can adjust to Jerry's pattern

Try to stay as close as possible so you have an easy pass to make when time is up

Progressions:

Jerry has a soccer ball as well

Reg - Jerry can only jog/fast walk

Dribbling Races (15 mins)

Organization:

Set up as shown

30 yards lon with cones placed about every 10 yards

Instructions:

3 Dribbling Circuits as diagrammed above

Players split into teams for relay races on each designated pattern

First team to have all their players to the far side of the field and sitting down wins a point!

Coaching Points:

Emphasize when players need close control and when they can take big touches

Which foot should you be using to get around the cone?

-which surface of the foot also?

Progressions:

Add in Goals on the endline and finish with a shot

Conditioned Game (15 mins)

Organization:

Conditioned game, small sided

2 gates on either end along with a goal

Instructions:

Small sided scrimmage

Players can score by shooting into opponent's goal or by successfully dribbling through one of the gates on the endline.

Can stagger points to encourage dribbling through the gates

Also could place two goals where the gates are and allow players to score by dribbling across any other part of the endline

Coaching Points:

Encourage players to find the best option to score

Change of direction with the ball

Head and eyes up looking for open space

Communication with team
