NOT TOO MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE SYSTEM AND STYLE OF PLAY BUT I WANT TO BE HYPER FOCUSED ON HOW QUICKLY WE CAN PROGRESS THE BALL AND MOVE THE BALL PARTICULARLY IN THE MIDFIELD AREAS.
AGGRESSIVE DEFENDING/POSSESSION PRINCIPLES AND LOOKING TO SWITCH THE POINT OF ATTACK AND PROGRESS FORWARD QUICKLY FROM THERE.
FORMATIONS:IN POSSESSION, WE PLAY A 1-4-2-3-1.
OUT OF POSSESSION IN OPPONENTS HALF - 1-4-3-3 WITH A ZONAL PRESS (IF THEY BUILD UP)
OUT OF POSSESSION IN OUR OWN HALF - 1-4-5-1 - WITH A MID OR LOW BLOCK (IF THEY GO LONG)
PRINCIPLES OF PLAY:

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ZONAL/MAN PRESS TRANSITION- DISCIPLINED BUT AGGRESSIVE.
INITIAL TRIGGER IS BASED ON THEM PLAYING OUT FROM THE BACK. OTHERWISE IT'S TRANSITIONAL BASED
OVERALL TACTICAL THEME:
INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM DEFENDING TACTICS. IF WE WIN OUR INDIVIDUAL BATTLES WE WILL THE OVERALL WAR!
STRONG INDIVIDUAL DEFENDING TECHNIQUE COMBINED WITH COMPACT, ORGANIZED DEFENSIVE UNIT (ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDFIELD AREAS)
OUT OF POSSESSION:
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
TRANSITION IS ALWAYS SUPER CRITICAL.
**CLICK MOMENTS**
THE TOP PRIORITY IS:
TRANSITION/CLICK MOMENTS: WE NEED TO KEEP POSSESSION IN THOSE FIRST 2-4 PASSES AFTER THE BALL CHANGES.
**NEW** - POSITION FIRST/HEAD UP FIRST/WHERE IS THE SPACE FIRST - NOT DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE!!
**NEW**- PLAY THE "SIMPLE" BALL EARLY. DON'T WAIT AND TAKE EXTRA UNNECESSARY TOUCHES.
** NEW** - JUST FOCUS ON QUALITY FIRST TOUCH (KEEP THE BALL MOVING SO IT ISN'T JAMMED UNDER OUR FEET) THAT ALLOWS US TO RETAIN POSSESSION, FIND THE OPEN PASS AND CONTINUE TO BUILD THE ATTACK.
**NEW** - PLAY IN THE DIRECTION WE ARE FACING!! - DON'T LOOK TO DRAG BACK, TURN INTO PRESSURE, BEAT A MAN 4 TIMES. BE SIMPLE AND DISCIPLINED
1,2,3 PASSES ACCURATELY AFTER TRANSITION WILL HELP US CREATE OPPORTUNITIES
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN WE LOSE POSSESSION: GET COMPACT, STAY COMPACT, DENY CENTRAL PENETRATION AND WIN BACK POSSESSION BY FORCING OPPOSITION INTO MISTAKES (WORK RATE!)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
IN POSSESSION IN THE ATTACKING HALF OF THE FIELD
************************
*******WHAT ARE THE CUES for DRIBBLE?********
WE SHOULD NOT BE TOO KEEN TO DRIBBLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER A CHANGE OF POSSESSION AND NOT SUCCESSFUL AT FINDING THOSE FIRST PASSES AFTER TRANSITION.
RUN FIRST/BALL 2ND - ALWAYS OUR MANTRA WITH REGARDS TO ATTACKING MOVEMENTS AND MOMENTS
TRANSITION/CLICK MOMENTS: WE NEED TO KEEP POSSESSION IN THOSE FIRST 2-4 PASSES AFTER THE BALL CHANGES.

SET PIECES
ATTACKING:
What are we trying to achieve in different moments of the game?
KICK OFF:
FREE KICKS - Evan, Brennan, Ben may be asked to take kicks closer to the goal with a direct shot.
Chris N or Austin may be asked to take kicks if we are outside goal scoring range and need a good ball played into the danger area.
- if we are inside 40yds from the goal - can we create an attacking moment by putting the ball in a dangerous area.
- if we are inside 25yds - can we take a good strike on goal ensuring that we make the GK work (DO NOT PUT THE BALL OVER THE BAR OR MISS THE GOAL ENTIRELY)
IMPORTANT (THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER)
-if we are OUTSIDE 40 yds (or conditions do not allow a good ball into the box) WE POSSESS the ball (only exception, if we are losing and it is towards the end of the game - we might pump the ball in the box then).
CORNER KICKS - Austin (impossible), Ben, Brennan, Chris may take depending on who is in the game or the moment of the game.
- let's try to mix up our corner kick Repetoire!
Impossible - Player coming around the back, really deep beyond far post to head or play a ball back into the danger zone (Dylan or Tomi targets). Players in box set up outside far post and make their runs towards the corner flag first to misdirect the defenders.
Meat = 1-6 go to their spots and create multiple points of attack VEG = All on the line.
PKs - Austin, Ben, Chris, Brennan, Quino (in that order depending on who is on the field).

DEFENDING SET PIECES
ORGANIZED QUICKLY ON SET PIECES - Our set pieces are a priority; make genuine efforts to win the ball first in defending situations. ACTUALLY TRY TO HEADER THE BALL RATHER THAN JUST JUMPING IN THE AIR!
BEST HEADER OF BALL ACTS A "FLOATER" ON DEFENDING SITUATIONS (DYLAN)
WIN THE PHYSICAL BATTLE!!!
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT TO ACTUALLY WIN THE BALL NOT JUST TRACK THE RUN.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY FAKES AND CUTS - WIN THE BATTLE, WIN THE BALL
DEFEND IN THE 1ST PHASE, 2ND PHASE, 3RD PHASE AND BEYOND - DO NOT BE A BALL WATCHER AND LOSE TRACK OF YOUR OPPONENT
